  1. If anyone's interested I've just measured how much the sound deadening weighs in the front of the car, as I chipped it all off I put it into a bag and it came out at 7.8kg not inluding the sound deadening in the boot.

No idea what it will be like on the road with it gone, for me it doesn't matter as the car doesn't see much road, but I imagine it won't make it a particular pleasant experience on long journeys

  2. Unfortunately the back seats really don't weigh much and they actually block out a lot of sound, so my advise would be to keep them in if the car is only used on the road.

If you wanted to go into weight saving mode without making the car too loud/ uncomfortable I would:

Remove the secondary air system and all pipework (5-7kg)

Remove the A/C and all associated pipework (I'm aware this can sacrifice comfort in some respects.. but it weighs a good 5-7kg).

Replace the battery with a light weight one (OEM battery is around 15-17kg, the light ones are around 8KG or a little less)

The numbers above might not be particularly accurate, thats just what I guess they weighed when I took them out the car.

That's the easiest way of removing a good amount of weight without stripping the car down IMO

  3. I'd take Rainsport 3's over Eagle F1's any day.

I always seemed to struggle for grip in the F1's, especially in the wet it was like driving on ice.

Only issue with the Rainsports is they tend to not last very long due to there soft compound, around 8k - 10K depending how you drive. Although because they are such good value for money I think it doesn't really matter.

  4. I've had LED bulbs in the headlights for over a year now, they are really bright and light up the road brilliantly even dipped pretty low down. They were £15 straight from china and have survived 3 track days and 15 laps of the ring in my headlights. Obviously there will be variations in quality, but as far as I'm concerned I think its one of the best value for money mods you can do in under 10 minutes.

  5. Absolutely fantastic watch, I only have 15 minutes left of my lunch break but it was worth it :D

I've done around 30 laps round Rockingham in my Celica, thought I'd got pretty used to the track and the lines, but it's videos like this that can really teach you where your room for improvement is. Thank you for taking the time to upload and edit this, I'll probably end up watching it again.

I pretty much melted half the tread off my rear tyres spending a day on this track, I'm only on Ebay springs and NS2R's, no other suspension changes so oversteer is a given i suppose. Did you have any issues with oversteer at the start of this project? I'm adding a cage to the Celica over this winter, but my fear is with a more rigid chassis oversteer will become much more of a problem. Can this simply be dialled out with the correct coilovers and anti-roll bars and a proper geo set up? Or will the Celica's chassis always tend to have these characteristics? I hope you don't mind me posting this here.

Once again, keep up the good work and thanks for posting, I always eagerly await updates from you!

  6. Hello Everyone!

I know there are already many threads on the soft spongy brake pedal the gen 7's seem to have, but I was just wondering if there was a bolt on master cylinder upgrade anyone knew of for the 7's?

    The reason I ask is...

I have currently just done a bit of a brake overhaul, by no means BBK, but i was at least hoping for a little improvement without spending ££££'s.

    The following has been changed

    • Avensis front brake upgrade
    • HEL braided lines all round
    • Brake fluid system fully flushed with ATE 200 (No air trapped, bled the system twice over)
    • MTEC Grooved disks all round
    • Black Diamond predator pads all around
    • All calipers stripped, cleaned and lubricated.

The brakes now bite really well with much more braking force, but the pedal still has that spongy feeling.

Does anyone have any advice on how i can improve this without going down the Brembo route?

    Thanks for reading :)

  7. I've also noticed prices going up, I have a diesel for a daily but I do around 1600 - 2000 miles a month, so any kind of price hike I tend to notice straight away :(

I actually need to fill up the celica tonight, I've always used V Power but with prices going up I keep thinking of going to the dark side...Tesco Momentum!
