They are a great car and now appreciating very well. To buy a nice one you are looking at £5-£7k , this issue is finding one. they suffer badly from rot if not well looked after , especially rear hatch and sunroof. I bought mine 10 years ago a manual with full history and 123k from new , if you can find one buy it as it is one of those cars which show good appreciation and a hoot to drive with that silky twin cam 6.

    £5 - £7k!

    Oh I wish

To import one would be around £14k

Which would make Surjit's a steal. I am looking for any garages I can rent in my area at the moment. If I am honest, I wouldn't feel that comfortable owning that monster, I haven't put any of the work into it and neither would I have the knowledge/skills to take it further. It also scares the crap out of me :D but if I can find a place to keep it safe then I might be seeing if he's still looking to sell.

  2. I have no intention of Parking it up or putting it in storage.

This was the car I dreamed of owning when I was doing a my paper round! I'm going to be driving it :)

Or at least I will be if I can import one. I've not seen an MA61 for sale in a while now. Plus, the ones I have seen have over here, recently, all been auto's :(

Would prefer the 2.8 if I can find one. There is a green one on that site.

I know it's a stupid idea, in truth, I am just trying to convince the part of my tiny mind that thinks logically that it could make sense :)

  3. Well Not today

    Goodies arrived Friday

Carbon Fibre wrapped Console from Serratia

400g Carbon effect RAZO Gear knob from... I don't know where I even bought this from.. Wasn't Amazon or CARiD

And some Metallic Black Spray to do something with my wheels.

The Console didn't fit around my head unit, although dimensions were the same the way the head unit fitted into the dash meant I needed to make some modifications, by modifications I mean butchering, oops. It's not quite as pretty as it was :(

Decided to try the spray on my old Tech5's and made an awful job of it, not sure if that's my painting skills or the paint. I would like to blame the paint but... It was a good job I tried it out on the old wheels :)

So anyway, my Console and New Knob.

    IMG_0222s.thumb.jpg.d2feda390a636dde53f2fc3c4c404ab6.jpg

Strangely enough, the heavier knob it makes changing from 2nd to 3rd easier, not sure why, perhaps I handle it differently.. Ummm... Or something

But you can see my butchering in the corners around my head unit.

i got one of these back in 2014 and i was doing 36 in a 30 zone ...

I'd feel a bit hard done by for that. :/

I was doing 56 in a 40. OK it was 1:46am on a weekday and on a dual carriage way but still, I don't have much of an excuse (well, any excuse, tbh) so I feel pretty lucky.

I don't know if would have the patience for a respray... If I saw my car like this, with a shiny new paint job, I would be thinking "Put it back together! Put it back together now! It's dry enough!" and so on.

In fact I am thinking the same about this picture and it's not even my car :D

I may take you up on that. I have (another) Carbon Spark plug cover coming from Ray (somehow lost the other I bought, I expect to find it after I fit the replacement) but I was doing searches for Carbon fibre engine covers as it seemed they were available when the Gen7 was new, or at least still in production.

I bought my SRI purely for noise, knew there'd be a slight drop in performance but the noise balanced that see-saw out for me.

Have I noticed a difference? Well i've now changed the mods on my insurance to say the SRI's gone and I'm back to the OEM box with the butterfly removed and a K&N panel filter. I just found that set up was best of both worlds. I also tried putting the butterfly back, but I found that not as responsive and I missed the noise. I'm a 48 year old kid :).

I also found lift to be slightly better with the butterfly removed too

De-Butterfly and Panel Filter was about the first thing I did with my car, didn't notice much of a change in noise with the stock exhaust, if I am honest.
Did the SRI have much effect on your insurance?
I'm holding off doing anything else that might affect my insurance as I am expecting a nasty speeding ticket any day now after a triggering a camera last Thursday :(

Removed the SRI and decided to give the de-butterfly stock airbox a go for a few days, just because I've never done it more than anything.

    Noticed any difference?

I wanted to go the SRI route just for appearance but the one I mistakenly bought had very vague (and according to sources here and other places,  partially incorrect) instructions. Still looking at the Injen one.

Added the new shiny bits I got off ebay.

Lots of little bits of neo chrome because... well... reasons. And Tacky is my middle name :D

  9. I've actually been trying to get rid of all the bodged repairs that were already on mine. Mostly wiring or connectors. Replacing twist and tape with Scotchlok or, if I think it's something I might want to remove at a later date, bullet connectors.

However, when I connected up my spoiler light I did a twist and tape job, planning on doing it properly once I was sure it was working... That was quite a few months ago now

Lack of any real mechanical knowledge/skills prevents me from doing too much harm :D

  10. Fitted these today

    They are utter shite.

Advertised as being a quality product... Well they are a shiny product, if that's what the U.S. definition of quality is.

Anyway, after cutting away massive lumps of molding flash so bulbs will fit in them, they are in. I now I am waiting on some amber bulbs to replace the reversing one and wire up some LED strips to use as reversing lights.

Run out of Bullet connectors... and daylight.

And, I am not sure if I don't prefer my tinted pre-face lift tail lights :brickwall:

    Photos to be added tomorrow

I think at the moment only Audi are making a decent coupe in the TT.

I suppose it depends on what you want from the car. I see the Audi TT in the same way as I see a Superdry Jacket. They are a pretty common sight.
I don't doubt it's a very good car and I only need to leave the house to see how popular it is but I'm not sure I would want to own one.

As for the MR2, should it have sold better? Probably but I thought the 2nd one had lost what made the original so good. It became too big but was still only a 2 seater sports car even though it closer to the size of a 2+2 coupe. If they had kept something closer to the original dimensions it may have been better received, Or maybe everyone would have still bought MX-5's instead.

I'm not really sure what the augument here is, if I am honest.

I suppose what I am saying, is my criticism of most modern coupes has been their lack of power compared to more sensible and practical cars from that manufacturers range. But maybe they are just all shit compared to the TT and that's why they failed to sell.

To be perfectly honest, I liked driving around in a car that no one else had (even though it was a long way from perfect) that people didn't know what it was and while I don't have that now and even tho there is a Gen7 with full GT kit in spitting distance of where I live and gloss black, modified Gen7 even closer than that.I like that my GT isn't so common as to be a Superdry Jacket.

Even if said jacket was better than what I choose to wear.

So, I sort of don't mind that they didn't sell well... Kinda makes me want to get a Gen6 GT4 :D

    GT4 anyone?

Problem with performance is that it costs a lot. The Top Gear review of the ST205 by Clarkson mentions just how expensive it was compared to rivals.

Rivals? I hope he wasn't talking about the cars I mentioned earlier.

The GT4 rivals or at least the cars that the GT4 was meant to compete with would be Evo IV's and Impreza WRX's. I would be surprised if it was pricey in comparison to them.

Also, the 4WD would bump the price up over a 2WD car.

My argument was always that the manufacturers always seemed to put more powerful engines into saloons or hatchbacks instead of their Coupe's.

Corolla T-Sport? Why didn't they put that super charger on the T-sport or GT? Ok it's only an extra 25hp but it takes it over the 200 mark.

Ignoring JDM models, The Honda Prelude never got as powerful H22a engine as the Accord Type R received and never received the Type R treatment as "It was already a sports car"

But, maybe you're right, the GT4 should, by my own logic and arguement, have sold better, maybe not as well as the Impreza's and Evo's but certainly much better than it did.
