  1. i usually like to travel lite with minimum load but I do like to tinker when I'm about too and also in case of any eventuality s what minimum tools would you recommend carrying in the boot I can't remember whether my gen 7 came with a tool kit but I'll have removed it anyway?

  2. Bit of a general discussion one this one I'm just curious to pick other more superior opinions on here!!

What sort of mileage/ and/or age do people find maintenance type costs rise on celicas/Toyotas/generally?

Backdrop: was playing with the idea of also trying to pickup a cheap preface mk3 mr2 post summer to play with too but interested in people's opinions generally I've had v high milers some with motorway in the past trouble and corrosion free till scrapped and some lower milers but not quite perfect, my own gen 7 s gone 120-140k with me with not a huge history and I've just had the usual common things rectified (tho thinking a clutch change can't be far away)

What sort of things do people particularly look for on high milers/older cars?

PS.apols not posted for a while been busy but still reading.

from cross reference info the bosch version of the Mann filter is

    0451 103 259

    filter P3259

    ECP 501 59 0017

    and today it's cheaper.

  4. Cheers for the tips guys gone for the larger Mann one from ecp over the bank holiday sale for starters plan on dropping the oil after 3k then oil n filter after 6k just for convenience for now I noticed that k + n do a for life reusable washable one now that does sound like a messy exercise!!

Sorry to get a bit annorakally technical here but I'm sure there's more to the rings and oil passages blocking up than just regular oil n filter changes it seems a bit haphazard to me like there's other influential factors also at play like use/abuse leaving the car standing oil quality/additives n detergents.

Mines an 06 optifit engine I think so I'm hoping it's not going to be an issue but I notice a slight bit of oil usage after a good infrequent hammering I've noticed fully synthetic oils don't seem to discolour v quickly and I seem to have noticed cleaner engine results from piston soaks and oil flushes which I think might b a good idea on these engines.

Anybody else got any opinions on these matters,?

  5. Cheers for the heads up on that.

I usually just drop the oil every 3-4K (my engine and oil does seem pretty clean) and then change the filter too as well every other change , just for convenience and to save me getting oilly!!) Hence I wanted a larger filter.

Has anybody got any opinions on whether its a good for me to just change the filter every other change?

    Cheers

I been using those along with few other brand ones which are the same size.

Oddly the 1zz has an even smaller filter than the 2zz. Duno why probably cost saving.

On the 2zz with the bigger filter i get the full 5litres of oil in during an oil change. With the standard filter i get around 4.7litres of oil in.

all our engines have the same filter fitment, you can put whatever size canister you want on them.

As for brands, Toyota and Blueprint are basically the same (ive seen a take-a-part video) , MANN or Bosch would be ok, but not really any cheaper.

Avoid Crossland (ECP cheapie) or anything made by Fram

  6. What's the story and valuation of it Tiddles, not that experienced in this recently but didn't it use to be argue the toss and negotiate with them on their valuation of it eg FSH, any pictures/condition, bills, ccuk membership etc similar car ads, and hopefully accept their 3rd elevated offer?

  7. Yeah shaun I'm trying to add more blue bits to a silver n blue 2 tone car u see I tried the funky looking 10k s or something that temp n they did look funky but my sidelights were practically brighter I ve got the ballasts now or I'd get led s there too but do need to get some better quality 6 k s your v white light still looks contrastingly v good what bulbs have u got in your fogs mine are pretty yellow at the min?

    4 hours ago, shaungt4 said:

Yep definitely illegal only White. Hid kits at 6k is what i use if you start going over 6k then you are going in the colour range and will loose light. Anything over 6k is turning Blue then Purple with less light and more colour.

  8. Yeah cheers d that many cars on the road nowadays it must be a nightmare policing them nowadays it can't be there top priority my sides were always blowing before I put led s in a quick n easy swap wouldn't put anything other in there now especially in the tricky areas wish I had instead of hid headlights mine are quite disappointing think I defo need an upgrade

    Cheers buddy.

Front splitter is a C-One. The Blue tint not sure i would say that would be down to individual mot station tester and police discretion. I have seen tinted front lights who have had no problems with police or mot.

    Vented wings to.

    IMG_20170405_113920.jpg

Yeah I do like that look Shaun that's similar to the look I d like to achieve (eventually that is!!) Like the vents I assume those are built into your new wing r they they do look v good and the splitters the best I've seen are splitters the same fit for pre + post facelift?

And the ' halo s' defo suit that cool wild cat feline look mines still a bit feral!! Was gonna do some on mine when I changed my fog s but that was hard enough for me maybe I'll 'retro-fit' some on the outside as DRL s at some stage what size rings dyou use?

  10. Hey cheers Shaun I'll get a set of them I do like that front-on look of your car n that splitters cool what about blue glass tinting film dyou know if that ones legal on the lights I've just bought a load to do my side-windows too?

I have the cree ones to but they get over powered by the halos i have inside the main lights which come on with the side lights. Also have halos around the fogs which come on with the side lights

  13. Hiya pal these are the sort of thing I was looking at they're quite thin on the ground now but used to b popular I'd defo have something similar doesn't have to b an exact replica or anything just a similar shape, that really suits the car i think, u can stick on the back was considering having a go myself but I'm a bit of an amateur u mite well get a few other takers for em too
