You might find the part number and if they are available separately by visiting the site below.

    http://japan-parts.eu/

    Thanks for the link.

It's a bit of a maze to get lost in, but a very informative site, however the cooling pipe numbers are complicated with two diagrams, and a 'Maker' number that is different to a 'Dealer' number...

The Dealer numbers are 2 x bolts for condenser: part number 91651-60625 & 2 x bolts for compressor: part number 91511-J0625.

The 'Maker' number is for 4 x bolts that are the same for both the compressor and the condenser unit: part number 91511-60625

All the above number references show what looks like a bolt (banjo type bolt?) but does not clearly show any o rings, so i don't know if the o rings come with the bolts or not.

Still very puzzled here, maybe easier to source suitably sized o rings from a nearby A/C and refrigeration retail shop when the old condenser comes out (?)

  2. Earlier today went into my local Mr.T to order a pair of genuine Toyota ARB bushes for the rear... got quoted £15.90 each.

Almost 32 quid a pair seems rather a lot, but is this the going rate?

Probably get 10% discount off, will find out later...

Also tried to order genuine Toyota A/C condenser O rings, but this confused the guy, after spending 5 minutes on his computer in a back room behind a closed door, he came back to me and said they only come with the AC pipe kit and o rings can't be supplied on their own

I'm not sure i need the pipe kit as well, or how expensive it is, probably a lot more than just the rings.

Does anyone know the Toyota part number for the condenser O rings?

Also are they the same as the compressor O rings?

    And how many are there?

    Thanks for any info help

As I recall, Mr T quoted me over £1,300 inc VAT for the mid-ection, fitted, with a 6 week wait for it to come from Japan. So, a good deal

It would be better if Mr.T sold the genuine original OEM cat separately; minus the weight and length of mild steel pipe and resonator to simplify packaging and greatly lower the cost overall.

expensive but your having a big transformation to the car debs looks good , your have to get a snippet of it in action ...i did a quick slower drive a few years ago on my industrial estate as others wanted to hear mine i hooked up my action camera to my jdm tow hook using the velcro mount ...was quite impressed how it come out :

There are various options and ways to have a SS custom fit exhaust, it's great we have choice to suit out personal requirements.

The important thing is we get what we want.

The original system on my car was blowing at the rear silencer, and the inlet pipe adjoining it was holed too and threatening to come away. The decision i made to replace it is  expensive but a very nice piece of metal craftwork, i wasn't expecting the engine to become so more perky and smooth, it's a real joy to drive now.

There remains a sporty riff with higher revs but even this is subdued in volume, don't think it's gained any more horses at higher revs [not sure yet] but need to be careful in 30 and 40mph zones due to quieter and smoother ease of acceleration. A far more refined car to drive now, except my ears are focused on a worn ARB bush clunk which has been there for some time but is on my things to do list.

Can I ask? - How much?

    £950 + VAT

This includes replacing the down-pipe from the manifold and reusing the original cat, they didn't have any problems welding it up to the new 304 SS.

May seem a lot, and it is, but it's quality, and works out to be about the same cost of a brand new genuine mild steel Toyota mid-section alone.

The new Alunox custom fit exhaust system has transformed the engine performance with noticeable more torque, not huge but it definitely picks up better from low revs.

The drive is far smoother than with the old system, i didn't realise how much refinement the original rusty old pipework was holding back.

Should have got this done this years ago

I opted for a quiet system, probably too quiet for most of you chavs here  but i'm very happy with the results, plus no nauseous cabin drone at all, at motorway cruising speed it's so peaceful one can hear sparrows fart as they fly past, and the CD/Radio resolution benefits from the tranquility too. Perfect!

mine was a fabricated backbox with a smaller box towards the flange but its lighter than the stock version and sounds great ...i opted for mid range on mine so its a bit louder but not so much on tickover but its in between loud and OE  :

You were lucky to get a good job done and a great deal some years ago when custom exhaust build prices were far more affordable, it would appear that costs and prices have sky rocketed since.

I also get the impression it's easier and less expensive to built a noisy exhaust system than a quiet one, and it's not just about decibels but how the tuneful the sound becomes, and the effect upon engine efficiency and power.

It will be interesting to hear what the Crazy Cat Car sounds and drives like, maybe as soon as tomorrow B)

Sorry to ask but is the Red edition a 140 or 190; suppose it has to be the latter ;)? My 140's exhaust has lasted a long time, but will need replacing  one day.

The 'Edition' models are 140s including mine, but i'm sure you know this already ;)

I actually prefer the 140 engine spec and bought one though choice, although i can understand why many prefer the more performance related TSport.

Read somewhere on this forum that a rear silencer with the word FUTABA and 12207 means it is not the original but a genuine Toyota replacement to meet OEM spec, not sure if this is true because mine came with full service history which doesn't include any exhaust change parts.

If the Futaba can on mine is the original like i suspect then it's done very well for 16 years.

Your car on Llay Industrial Estate now?

Yes, it's the weekend right now but it's languishing in the tube bending parlour awaiting the exquisite pipe pandering next week

    <>

As far as noise levels are concerned, they know i want a quiet system, as quiet or as noisy as the OEM ball park.

It will probably sound different from the original due to the different tubing and construction but we will have to see ( ...and hear )

  10. My Gen 7 is presently undergoing a complete new exhaust system fitment with an expert fabricator.

All new 304 stainless steel from manifold to tailpipe but with the exception of reusing the original cat; confirmed by the MOT tester to be working very well.

I've asked for the the new system sound as legal as the OEM system.

Very excited about it, told them there is no urgency and take the time they need to do a good job, although i think good jobs is all they do.

    The picture below is a recent snap on their facebook page of a Yaris GR with some titanium bling;

but look at what's waiting in the background B)

I had my front calipers off for total 're-buildings' last week. It always amazes me that when you take the road wheels off, and the calipers off, there's nothing at all holding the discs on; as long as there's no rust, they just slide off the studs.

    Photo from 5 years ago...

Yes, the disc interfaces with the hub flange and with the wheel to hold it on.

My mechanic uses copper-slip on the hub flange part, which is okay but imho seems a bit too gritty.

When we replace the discs tomorrow i'm going to use Mintex 'Cera Tec' silicone disc brake grease though-out, so it will not only be used on the slider-pins, but also behind the pads, on flange, and between disc hub to wheel.

Wheels are replaced on my Celica twice yearly with the winter & summer wheel/tyre sets, so don't think there is strictly a need for copper-slip.

No, I have never given that a great deal of thought. Is your thinking that if somebody needed to buy new calipers, big ones (and the appropriate disc)do better than little ones?

If you do upgrade, does any change need making to the brake balance?

Originally the Gen 7 had 255mm front discs, Toyota decided to up them to 275mm, so maybe there is something in better braking with a bigger brake.

However, i have no experience driving a Gen 7 with a good working condition set up standard 275 discs, mine were knackered when i bought my Celica, so i took the opportunity to convert it all over to the Avensis 295mm size.

It would be interesting to know what the actually difference is. The brake test machine the MOT tester uses would be a perfect guide to show.

All i can say is my brakes work very satisfactory, passes MOT brake test easily every time.

It would seem to be a very safe mod, there is no balance problem between front and rear, but it's obvious to say the rears need to be functioning correctly.

One little advantage i notice is Avensis parts often seem to cost a lot less than Celica, a big saving on replacement brake pads perhaps, or perhaps not, i do low milage so only need change them every 50 years...

Zunsport, Debs. AFAIK, they are still available for the Gen 7.

Unfortunately for the front end of facelift Gen 7...

Zunsport only have the top grille available for £37.72  ...but nothing showing for the lower grill (?)

    https://www.zunsport.com/en/checkout/cart

I wouldn't want to change one without the other. They offer a 10% discount and i think it includes postage, so i would of gone for it if they had both front grills
