alternator. battery. air filter (if open) apart from that just makes sure you only wash down the bits you need to dont spray water every where. try to keep it away from the fuse box ect.

i have never got one. im guessing its a new thing. i dont know how long ive been here.
4 years that a while and your car has come so far sinse then.
good work lets keep it going.

what did you get in the end?
good to here its working out for you this time.
-
you will just lapse in to a normal member, still no need to leave. come back every now and then and say hi. hope the new/next car is working out for you.

yep agree with samuaw, at least once a week give the car a good run and use the full rev range. this helps to clear out and de-coke the engine and exhaust system. if you dont use it then the engine does bed in at that standard and will take a while to break it free from it.
like they say if you dont use it you loose it.

i know for a fact that if the ball joint cover is split its the same as a split in the cv boot. you get dust and dirt in there and they will end up all floppy. i know that all are mine are ok. never new it WASNT an mot failer so check them the same as cv boots and replace if split.
good to here about the hids though as i have just fitted some to my car. if you can tell they are hids just by looking i would be impressed. try and find the ballasts. have to move one but now i know its ok for mot it will be put up top were the abs normally would be.
thats a bitch about the engine management light though as on most new cars it comes on when you have to service it and unless you have the special tool to plug into it you cant turn it off even if you have serviced it.
as for cats does any one know if that still applies for grey imports? as the uk car never had a cat in it for the 1990 model. mine did but it got removed and is always very good on emmisions testing. most of the time on the gray import side they dont know the spec so either use the uk spec as reference or just test it will whats there (as in no cat so cant test it, dont know if it had one)???

i was about to say the same thing as ams.
if the package says £150 on it and it gets damaged or lost you will only ever see a max of £150 back for it and knowing what insurance companies are like as we all do you know you will only get 75% of that if your lucky. for piece of mind price it up and add 30% to the price for some thing over seas and if you can get it cheaper in the uk thats what i would do. the reason you find stuff in this country is alot more that importing stuff is because they have paid the import duties, tax and vat on it already. plus if you get some thing and it breaks and you have to send it back then you have the hastle of sending it to some far off country as well.
i have had stuff imported before and its all down to adding things up and working out, 1 if you can get it in this country and 2 if it works out cheaper in than importing with the duties.

if there any thing like the 5 then no.
the floor plan will be different and there for the bolting holes in different places to for the tunnel to go through the car.

its obvious its for getting the extra air into the supa charger.other wise it just wouldnt produce the extra full 20bhp.
i thought that was a no brainer. (call yourselves car people?)

if its sold through ebay then make sure they know its a fixed price and what it went for is what they pay, no coming and saying they only have half the money and there is this wrong and that wrong and they should have to pay the full amount.
i would also get something like a bank note checker if its going to be alot of cash changing hands.
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=bank+note+checker&hl=en&tbs=shop%3A1&aq=f
if you can do it on a week day and put the money in the bank the same day.
apart from that if its cash and its not left in the house for them to brake in and steel it back i cant see how you can go wrong.
you have to fill in the v5 form and send off now so should be any problems with that side of it.
cash is cash so should be ok.

have to agree with dub they did do an st gen 5 1.6 that i believe was very low on the mod cons like elecy windows, sun roof and alloys. but you try and find one of them. i have only ever seen one on the road and im sure there was one up for sale here recently. so thats a hole 2 i know of. lol

i think we all know if it's a top spec mint cs gen5 the other 2 would not get a look in.

any news on the bonnets?
is it me or does the bonnet not come down far enough at the front? as in it doesnt line up with the head lights any more?
any chance there maybe an st182 bonnet being made? as in with out the big hole in it? would like the weight reduction but dont want the extra drag.
cheers

if its out and the car is already apart it would be stupid for the small amount of money it would cost to not change it. if you think it could be part of the problems you had then just throw in a new one.
just price them up quick and its only £20 and then you know you dont have to check it again.

1. yes and 2. yes.
10% is the limit on the plus or minus side for the speedo. so the tacho could be out by the same amount.
reverse does rack up millage as well im sorry to say. (as seen in the film ferris bueller's day off lol)

in side the car is fine as long as you cant see the light from the out side.
normally wire them in to the door switches though. so they come on when you open the door and then go out when you close it. otherwise i can see it getting annoying driving at night.

got mine, thanks to all. first of uk spider for doing the calendar again, nemesis for sorting the payment and of course orc for posting them out.
1st class work again and i see my car made it in even though i didnt send in a pic. so who ever did send in the pic thank you to you to.
this coming year i will have to make sure i take pics at the shows and send some in.

ah its all good if its not done by then then it will give me some thing to do over the weekend there. lol
we have a 4 day weekend comin up so hope to have it done by the end.
then its just a matter of adjusting the coilovers finishing the drivers door off, maybe some new tyres on the back. few bits of touching up to do and its all finished.
dont think i will get time to do the gauges for this one and like i said the seats. oh and the boot build still needs finishing. still havent touched that since you saw it at jae. lol
theres plenty of time (i keep telling myself).

a month to go and my car looks like this.

try this, probably the easiest way if you have fabric seats, I have some with the intention to do mine when I get around to it!!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/simply-spray-Upholst...=item3355fa3dc4
i have tried this stuff and even though it works its no good on the seats. it doesnt go well on the suede bit of the seat.
and the only way of getting a black interior is to make it your self. lots of different products and time.
andy
-
ALL black interior for me.
well i dont think i will have the seats done by then so might just get some cheap covers for the time being.
by the way they never did a black interior for the gen 5, just in case you thought it was and easy one.

with coilovers you will have to take in to account for corner weight balancing as well. its not as easy as putting them on and thats it im affraid.
i would have a 4 wheel laser alignment doing first then have a play with the setting and see how it handles. then after you have finished with the settings and are happy they you will need to 4 wheel align it again.
i found with mine that there wasnt enough weight on the front end and had to adjust the ride height on the rear and front to adjust the weight then align again.
you can pay to get all this done in one go but you will have to find some were that does corner weight balancing.
