  1. i always use bosch blades from my local factors, 6-8£ each and they last a brave while too

I always use Bosch normal blades spoiler one for drivers side and non spoiler for passenger got a pair the other month when EuroCar parts had discount offer think the pair Bosch Super plus (or similar) were about £12 delivered free and usually last about a year. Not Aero type I know but I just don't rate the aero ones, Wife had them on her last two Fiats and now the Renault bought reputable manufacturer (not cheap ones) and they only last the same length of time but cost 3x as much and she probably does a quarter of my mileage.

  2. Not the easiest job but it can be done without removing the headlamp units from the car, from memory my passenger side was harder than the drivers side but maybe just because I'm right handed.

Just make sure the new lamp fits into the holder (if it has one) and make sure it sits into the light unit before trying to get the spring clips back on and don't forget to refit the rubber shroud before connecting the cable up.

  3. Lucky bugger.!...Bet yer get over to Saltburn and have those delicious fish and chips on the front.???? ;)

    Neil

Your right always feel lucky to live in "Gods Country" (arguments start), prefer Whitby to Saltburn for F&Cs but either will do depends on how much free time there is, can usually make a trip to Whitby last about 3 hours if I take the convoluted route via back roads to Northallerton, Thirsk, Helmsley, Pickering, Ruswarp then into Whitby with a stop in Helmsley for a coffee and chat and Fish and chips in Whitby or if it's early morning then hot chocolate and bacon sandwich on the pier, best way I have found to unwind and put a 100 plus miles on the car or bike.

  4. I think putting vinyl on a rough surface will still show through the vinyl, best option would be to remove it sand it back flat and repaint it or if you want to fit vinyl flat it back with emery paper until smooth although if your not repainting it make sure there is some paint left on or it will rust, if its a metal sunroof.

You could always keep an eye on the breakers for a decent replacement sunroof in the same colour.

  5. I always refit the sump plug when I take away the tray with old oil in right after draining it off so I don't do that but it is easy to do.

Once refilled a Mini cooling system without refitting the bottom hose did start to wonder why it was taking so much water until my feet started to get wet!

  6. As has probably already been mentioned this isn't really a fair or direct comparison, one car designed late 90s the other mid 2000s, one rear wheel drive the other front wheel drive.

I am not a total Celica fanatic indeed only got mine really as a stop-gap as I couldn't find something I really wanted or fit my requirements, having said that I am happy with my choice.

I thought about a GT86 before getting my car and love the looks and the way it drives (having had RWD cars for the last 15 years) but it was never really in my list to buy simply because I wanted something cheap to buy in the £4-8K range and the GT86 was over £23K and still is with second hand ones going for £15K+ so never really an option.

If you want to compare the Celica to something then shouldn't it be a car of similar style and type from roughly the same era costing about the same, it's one thing to note the changes and advances time has brought about (or not) in car design but a little unrealistic to try and directly compare the two, no doubt if Toyota had kept on making the Celica it would have moved on although I doubt it would have gone rear wheel drive but who knows.

  7. 10mm hole is to adjust the cog on the handbrake shoes which has a rubber bung in it, take a look at the last picture posted of a close up of the smaller hole, tell me where the head of the bolt sits as there is no countersink there it's completely flat, so any bolt fitted in that hole will protrude.

Also there are no holes in the hub to screw the disc to the hub.

Apologies my mistake should have remembered from when I did mine last year I must have got mixed up with my previous cars which all had the discs held by two countersunk bolts and the hubs had threaded holes to fix them to, even my Son's S2000 had them and the Celica must have been the first I changed that didn't have any retaining bolts. Could have sworn my TSport had them when I did them last year but cant really check easily as I have spacers bolted to the hubs. So sorry for the confusion.

  8. Had a litre of Dipetane delivered Saturday more to try and clean the carbs on my motorbike, ran a fair bit through with the tank off and connected directly to the fuel pump but still runs rough so looks like a full carb removal and disassembly to clean them properly, still have most of it left so will try it in the car and see if there's any benefit.

  9. Not sure if they are the ones but M6 sounds right and they are normally only short, good idea to use hex head ones as the normal cross head type normally rounds off. The two bolts are not to stop disc movement when in use that is done by the wheel bolts but they do help to pull the disc up square onto the hub and hold it there while you fit the wheels, also check the hub face is clean and smooth before fitting the discs as any rust etc. will cause them not to sit flush

  10. My head unit connects to any Bluetooth device in the car no problem once it is switched on, I only use Bluetooth for phone connection not music as I leave my ipod in the top compartment connected to the rear USB. Multiple phones connect easily even copying address books to the head unit which is a Clarion 500 series.
