  1. After only 4 days of having my car back from being off the road for close to two months, a white van smashes into the back of me at a roundabout.

Thankfully there is minimal damage to my car (drivers fog will need replaced and paintwork touched up on the bumper) and the van actually came off worse.

I was stationary and the van hit me out the blue, he immediately admitted liability so his manager gave me a call to see what options would be the best course of action.

I have not called my insurance company as yet, I got two quotes from bodyshops, the first one came in at £380 and the second originally came in at £200.00. They were then quite happy to push the price up to £300 and touch up a deep scratch on the quarter panel that was on the car when I bought it. I went back to the manager and he says he will pass on to his director and see if they will cover the cost and give me something extra for the hassle of it all.

He then calls me back and states the director wants to pay the bodyshop directly for the work however offer me nothing more. I am actually in a bit of pain today with my lower back and neck as he must of hit me at a good speed and its the van size up from the transit and I didn't see it coming.

Should I just reject the offer and go through my insurance? One thing to point out that has me worried about doing this is while my car was off the road, my MOT expired and its booked in for this Saturday to get done. A quick check online shows that having no valid MOT does not mean your insurance is invalid, the inspector will ensure the car was road worthy prior to the accident based on his findings.

I know many would jump at the chance of going through the insurance under the above circumstances......could even fund a rotrex install.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Tyres are obviously one of thee most important aspects of your car in terms of safety. Since I bought my car in July, I have had two slow punctures which effected the handling of the car, as well as my mpg.

On top of this, the previous owner had three different tyre brands. They were all 205/45/17's however after reading on here, a lot of people had went onto to buy 215/45/17's - so I ended up biting the bullet and bought 4x Hankook's Ventus Prime 2 K115.

The difference has been extremely noticeable, I know there is still tome to bed the tyres in, but can recommend enough moving up to the 215's from the 205's, the feel and look is well worth it.

I tried to tell the Mrs how good they felt, needless to say, she couldn't give a toss, so had to tell someone.

  3. Stick with it mate, in my first T Sport I had a very similar prang - new wing, new bumper and headlight was required. The car sat in the drive for around a month until I sourced the parts and once it was all repaired, instantly feel back in love with it, It was only when I got a "soccer" scholarship in the states I gave up my first Celica.

After coming back to the UK and driving a host of different cars, Astra SRI, BMW 320D, BMW 318i and a Clio.....I took the plunge and found myself a Storm Blue T Sport that I just couldn't resist.

Not only that, this site is by far thee best community I have ever known, and if something happens with your car, you know someone here will be able to help you (AMS in particular for you).

A said, give it time, slowly build on it, do your brake upgrade (I plan to do the big brake conversion) maybe add some skirts, GT lip if you have a new facelift bumper and you will no doubt find your love again ! Although when I got mine repaired, I went for a pre facelift bumper and dynamic lip - I preferred this look as it was a little different from the rest.

PS your line about buying the mrs new clothes when you get bored of her made my day!
