What i dont like about most bodyshops is that when they weld things up they don't cavity wax the back sides of the weld and dont use proper zinc based paint to stop it from rusting again.
They all treat it like your going to sell it on after the works done. Hence why iv started doing it myself.

I get people spending 600 quid for undersealing a Bentley or ferrari. But on a car that costs less than a grand a lot of people need to justify the cost.
Majority of these old cars are just one big bill away from the scrapyard.

cavity wax is easy enough to apply with the aerosols and extension wands.
waxoyl as mentioned above doesnt really harden and can come off over time. stonechip e.g upol gravitex works well for the underside.

501 led i used osram ones i believe. They got long warranty and rating. Lower power consumption too at 1w compared to standard which was 5w.

so after being on holiday and coming back to drive the celica after a month of it being sitting around i thought i be good to check the tyre pressures. the rear driver side tyre valve was ripped badly and leaking air. so having replaced the front valves when i did my new front tyres i used the 2 remaining valves today and got them fitted on the back wheels so now all 4 wheels use the metal tyre valves:
link above is the the valves, iv had 2 on the front for well over a year and no issues. no more crappy rubber valves failing on me any more. the valves i linked to are the exact ones i bought and they fit my 17 inch standard toyota rims. should fit all standard toyota rims too.
just checked my emails, valves on the front 2 tyres were fitting in august 2017 so they been on for over 2 years and no issues.

Ok show pics and link please

I used cheap dextron 3 from eurocarparts tripleqx brand. Using it as a rinse to clean up the old black stuff. Next year i will change the fluid again and this time use high quality synthetic dextron 6 stuff.
-
I used 2l and it got all the old stuff out. I believe the whole system holds 1ltr of fluid.

Ferodo for daily.

does anyone use this sort of valve:

Battery i dont have to worry about again since i use a solar panel on parcel shelf. Works wonders. Im looking to get a 2nd set of wheels so i can get winter tyres on them. Will also allow me to play with some diy wheel refurbing kits.
-
I use mine all round. Just got to remember to pay the extra 50p at car wash for the undercarriage option.
Someone on the forum recommended to use a lawn sprinkler under the car. Thats a damn good idea.

I got hankook winter tyres for wifes aygo. Big mistake since we don't get enough snow to warrant the use. Next time i will use all season tyres that get a high snow rating in reviews for winter use. Makes more sense.
Looking to get winters for the celica but need a set of cheapo rims first. Should i get 16 inch rims for winter use or 17 like i already have? Are tyres cheaper for 16s?

Hmm. Gas suspension that drops to 1cm off the ground when parked? Is that possible for a prius?
-
excellent, will have a look at that and give it a go.
-
Dont do what i did and use a year old half used lacquer can. Made it look worse. Got a quote for bonnet respray from one guy and was quoted 300 quid. Thats a rip off. Better off getting a carbon bonnet.

My cousin had a V reg honda accord 1.8 petrol. They stole that cat too from the driveway too. My bro scrapped a honda accord of a similar year and engine too. They checked the cat on the car saw it was original then gave him 430 quid for scrap value. Insane.

Which car you got? I got gen7 and mines not got a shield.
-
Possible to make it less nickable? Spray paint it red and yellow?
-
iv heard a lot of these thefts going on, local britannia tyres and exhausts place done 5 replacements today, 4 Jazz's and a prius.
looks like a lot of jap cars especially prius are being targetted. wondering is the celica is also on the hit list? if so what to do to protect the cat? wondering if its safer to do a decat now and put the cat back on for mot time?
-
Common sense on this one. Do a pre check on your car. Wipers washer fluid all lights etc brake pads and most of all tyres. The amount of fools iv seen go for mot with bald tyres with cords coming out is mad.
If the basics are in check then less chance of getting a dangerous flag.
