  1. was looking at the car today on the drive parked next to my mk3 fiesta. so my celica is the gen7 X-reg year 2000 prefacelift and it stuck me today that the car is 20 years old.

but for some odd reason it just doesnt look like a 20 year old car but much younger. even inside it doesnt feel dated to me.

now maybe thats because im comparing it to my 25 year old fiesta and my brothers 30 year old corrado and relatives older cars (bmw's etc)

and most of all it drives far better than all 20 year old+ cars iv been in.

anyone else get that feeling or is it just me?

forgot to add above aygo is driven by the wife, does 4 miles to work then 4 miles back home mostly dual carriage way. engine doesnt even get chance to get warm. the times car has done 47 or more mpg is when it was used for longer motorway run in between regular pattern. also the data shows mpg is worse in winter time than summer too.

  3. dont fancy changing coolant every 2 years and came across this:

    https://www.holtsauto.com/prestone/products/coolant-antifreeze-ready-use/

Guaranteed corrosion protection for 150,000 miles/10 years
Protection in all extremes from -37°C to 129°C
Guaranteed for all cars and light commercial vehicles
    Add to any coolant/antifreeze

fairly cheapo too. anyone used it? and would it actually be safe to use in our cars?

    gen7 celica.

  4. I got a custom setup but if your battery is good then even a 10w panel will be more than enough. I will get the link for you when i get onto the pc.

    Heres the link:

    https://thargo.com/product/bluefusion-mono-solar-panel-10w-20w-50w-100w/

13 quid plus delivery. I use it in my fiesta which has got a sulphated battery due to mechanic hoarding the car for a month in winter without starting it. I checked 2 days ago and battery was at 12.9v. Panel sees direct sunlight for about 5 hours.

Now depending on where you park and where the panel will face you can work out the panel size you need. This 10w one works good in winter.

I added a reverse blocking diode to it and its good to go. Much better than the big amorphous panel i got from halfords which was physically larger and made less current.

It's an on/off situation over the last three years. I had a collection of repairs to do on the car and while it sits waiting for me to fix them the car becomes a piece of 'recreational equipment' for the kids to play on. When I complained to their parents the answer I got from them was "well, you're not using it...", the second time I complained the answer I got was more direct - "F*** Off !"

dont mess with peoples cars, thats all i can say. one day they will mess with the wrong car and if they get caught well....

  6. I got my rear ones fitted too earlier this year when another of my rubber valves on the rear died. Was a big tear in it. Rubber valves just dont have the reliability.

Also these metal ones seem to be a lot better at retaining the air since i get lower loss over time.
