33 quid for a set of denso ik20's from euro car[parts
-
standard is denso, the 190 model uses sk20r11 and 140 model uses sk16r11 I believe.
you can replace with the trd ones, which hare denso ik20 or ik16
so if you do lots of mileage ya can use the VK20's which are good for 100k+ miles.
since I do around 4k a year I went with the ik20's which I will change every 4 years or so. which would be how long it takes me to do 20k miles. lol

asymetrical is the term given to the tred pattern. symmetrical tred pattern is one that rainsport 2 had.
and directional tyres can only be put on one way.
-
got a pic of it?
-
yea that's wot I ment the diagonal pattern will be facing the other way, but would that cause the car to pull to one side?
-
I don't think you guys understand what I mean, need to see a photo of 2 tyres next to each other to understand.
-
wont those tyres be the opposite way round tred wise when on the other side? as in when on the car looking at both tyres the rotation will be off?
-
have a look at this picture and loot at the top of the tyre sidewall, you will see it says OUTSIDE

The Gen7 has a curb weight of 1'100kg, the tyre load index should therefore be a minimum of 330ish kg
87 has a rated weight of 545kg
They should be fine.
but when braking and cornering doesnt more weight get put onto the tyre?
-
These tyres only go on the rim one way, they are directional and one side of the tyre has outside stamped on it.
-
that electric impact gun any good compared to the air powered ones?
-
when I took my rear suspension out, im sure there was a captive nut involved somewhere. also to get the bolt out, hit it with a hammer from the other side, it slides out easy, may need a breaker bar to reduce the pressure on it.
-
just that iv seen land rover people and scoby peeps always with the same brand and model of tyre on each corner.
although in the jap touge videos iv seen the guys not only have different brand tyres on front or back but different sizes too, seen an integra run 225's up front and 195's on the rear. ??
but they know what they are doing since i dont have the bottle to go round the bends as fast as they do so i wont question them.
-
i thought its only important to have 4 matching tyres if the car is 4wd?
-
funny thing is that eurocarparts are cheaper than opie oils once you factor in the large 30% discount code and free delivery at euros on the premium oil.
dunno but is there a test i can do on the triple qx to see if it is good quality? how do you test the oil? put in container and boil it? i dunno, but will have a look on the net and see what i can find.
-
yea does make sense for opie to advise against the triple qx oil, since they dont sell it....?
i dunno though, but one thing for sure i wouldnt ask castrol for their advise on mobil1 oil.
-
from what i read on different forum, lots of people are now using this stuff:
and they dont have issues with oil burning etc, using the discount code it works out to be £12.50p
i think threepot is using this oil too but i cant be sure on that.

Let's not forget the all important wet braking performance. My eagle assymetrics used to kick on the abs in wet all the time with the rainsport 2s I have not once has abs kicked in.
-
did you use rainsports 2 before? im looking to see what the difference is like between 2 and 3.
although i like my rainsports, deffo improvement in wet weather driving. i notice it when doing hard braking the rainsports dont loose grip like my goodyear assimetrics did which came with the car.,
-
Anyone used rainsport 3? Im using rainsport 2 and they are great. Was wondering how the 3s were.
-
odd iv never managed to get overstear in car. understeer happens all the time.
must be because i have front wheel drive. so does this oversteer business only apply to rear wheel drive cars. ignoring stuff like lift off oversteer etc but who does that sort of stuff on public roads ??
-
what tyres do you have
-
what would you recomment the oil change interval to be for gearbox oils?
-
hello tim, i got gen7 celica vvti 190, looking to do the gearbox oil since its done 77k now. was looking at the redline MT90 or the amsoil severe gear?
which would be better to use for my car?

anywhere cheaper to get them from? I found ik20 to be more expensive everywhere.
