  1. When I had my gen 7 things I hated were complete lack of torque and shoody brakes they were my only two gripes

Now in the world of TDI I know why now almost all manufacturers opt for forced induction be it charger or turbo just = effortless drive through more torque when u need it most I.e. Overtaking, something you have to plan months in advanced in the gen 7

Don't get me wrong it was a good Car but it could have been a great car

All they needed were; pot piston brakes, factory fitted turbo/charger, cruise control, heated seats and a good gearbox ratios

Had this been done the residual values would be much higher and it would be a sort after commodity

    My 2pence worth

  2. They are similar enough in performance that I would say it will mostly come down to the person behind the wheel. With both of them in the hands of 'The Stig', I would guess that the EP3 would be marginally quicker though!!

Don't like the look of that new Civic at all.

Manufacturers have virtually no option now but to go with turbo engines so that they can meet emissions regulations, gone are the days of 2zz and k20 engines!!

Agree with supersai about the EP3's gear stick position though

    R.I.P 2ZZ

    R.I.P K20

Enjoy the last of n/a high revving engines and take pleasure in knowing that you were the last to experience them in their true form ;)

The future is green, the future is eco friendly

  3. I think that looks ugly, the inside looks like the bridge of the starship enterprise,it's deffo not for me.

If I was gonna get a civic it would be one of the last of the old shape on a 06 plate,or even better just buy a teg for performance

Lol, each to their I guess, we all have different tastes but I highly doubt the teg will blow this 2.0litre turbo type r out of the water

  4. interesting that the civic lacks in some areas though

    No TRC

    No VSC

    No climate control

    No side airbags

*Seems celica is more safety orientated not a bag thing*

    Plus points for civic

Seats look more comfortable and better (not sure about driving position)

    Gear shifter

    Better stance on stock

Personally speaking id love one BUT not worth the extra cost in my opinion for what you get....

However in years to come i will DEFFO be looking at getting this 280bhp beast! It apparently will have very accessible torque low down... Jst what the doctor ordered

  5. :glare:

I only had a little spin around the block in one, but its my GF's cousin basically that has it so Im going to go back for a longer drive. Just going to make sure I go there in the work van so I dont have mine for him to drive in return

I know a bit about them though and definately cant knock them mechanically from what Iv heard...which only leaves the looks and the Celica takes the gold there!

So your still thinking of leaving the Celica then I take it Jay?

Nah not leaving mate, spent to much time money and effort to depart these shores lol

But just wanna test drive one so I can say I've driven one and had the experience

However when the 2015 New type Type R is released which looks mighty impressive at 280bhp with turbo then yes I want one over the celica!!

If you ain't seen it get googling :D

  6. When it comes to skilled automotive engineers in dealerships there is a catch 22 present. They will only employ young people with qualifications in the automotive area, e.g. BTEC 2/3 or NVQ 2/3 in Vehicle Maintainence.

But spend a couple of days round your local colleges Automotive workshop and you will realise a fair few of the lads who do those courses are not pushing IQ's of 150 :) And the lectures are prone to teaching a syllabus which is geared to pass rates which is not challenging their top students - pass rates supply funding in the modern FE college.

Quite often, the lads who are quite experience before they start college drop out through boredom, more often than not they have been doing all the stuff they cover at college with their dad, uncle, brother etc for years.

No one can do 2/3 years at college, then from nowhere be any good at fault finding. Yes they can drop oils, change brake pads, put an exhaust on, change a spring, swap a wheel bearing, fit a CV joint etc - some better than others. But they have not had some fantastic experienced mentors to work beside year on year - that is where good mechanics often come from.

It takes decades of challenging jobs to become good, and that isn't decades of servicing and wear n tear parts replacements.

There are some good guys out there, but I think they are a minority in the industry. I hope I have not offended too many garage workers here :)

Threepot you always talk complete and utter SENSE! Lol

    :)

  7. I was enquiring to see how much it would cost. You wouldn't believe it... Don't tell anyone... But I know nothing about cars under the bonnet .. I know how to top the water up for the washer jets though lol So me servicing is out of the question. At least with Toyota I would trust them to do the job right :)

Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

Lol we all start somewhere mate, ud be surprised just how simple a service is and how much people pay!

Watch some YouTube videos get a couple of mates round and give it a go, oil, plugs and air filter easiest jobs ever! ;)

  8. I will never ever buy a Car from the Audi vw group and it's exactly that kinda customer service makes me realise why I wouldn't go there

Example 1. VW - We don't want you buying discs elsewheres for cheaper so we won't give you the disc size we are not allowed to give out that information LOL

Example 2. Toyota - we can email you diagrams and part numbers so we can both be sure you get the right part

I find Toyota open and transparent in that sense its for this reason I will remain a customer for a long time coming

As for VW I could put in a complaint to trading standards or go through a freedom of information request lol couldn't be asked instead spoke to eurocarparts and a chap there gave me their part numbers

    How silly

I phoned Toyota Bridgnd today to find out how much the service plans cost, gave my registration (54 plate) then the lady says to me "how old is that, nearly 12 years old?" I said no it was out late 2004 so its nearly 10 years. She then replies "So when was the car actually made" I said this car was 2004.. "what month was this?" I said im not sure I just got the car last week, but being a 54 plate it should of been registered after half way through the year.. "ok thank you" I should get paid for doing her job... Are all Toyota dealers this dim? lol :brickwall:

Scotty why you want a service plan dude?

Piece of cake to do yourself ;)

All I'd get is a halfords professional tool set, Jack and stands then you can service for a lifetime, lifetime plan :D

  9. i am cautious of braided hoses as you cant see the condition of the hose as mentioned above.. I would only buy them off someone like fensport would be willing to stand over them as sometimes even big companies have quality issues (parts made by cheapest bidder) and the fault is put down to "incorrect" fitment.. in my eyes with tyres, brakes,suspension.. quality over price wins always if you want braided go for it just please no ebay specials for everyone's sakes :D

Lol, have decided to try and bought a Set of HEL lines from a reputable seller

  10. My local Toyota joint is brilliant!

Theres one oriental chap who works there and anytime I ring he is always on the ball and knows what I'm talking about, even emails me diagrams and part numbers if he is not 100% but he always appears to be correct, I was told he has been with the company for years and it shows with his knowledge,

Now that's what I call customer service

Vast comparison to VW who won't even tell you the part number or size of a brake disc in fear that you will buy it elsewheres cheaper, they even said that on the phone. Now that's terrible

  11. Would You mind telling me Where did You get Your shocks or Kayaba Mate? I need a pair for front soon... Thanks

I got kyb gas shocks with apex springs fitted feels excellent love it

Enemysoil also went on my recommendation

Ssearch eBay thoroughly there is one seller doing it for cheap ;)

  12. I'm not a fan of leather seats. For the bolsters it fine as nice and hard wearing. But find them slippy when spirited driving. I prefer my GT alcantara seats.

And yeah very cold in the mornings with leather!

Exactly the reason I wish they'd have put heated leathers in the gen 7!

Is this somethin that can b added??
