fitted front brakes, repacked the FR outer CV with grease as the clip had come off the new boot and sprayed the grease everywhere. Need a new metal clip for that!

tried for an hour to bleed the brakes but the pedal isn't great. ran out of time so will have to take another stab at it tomorrow

Didn't take many snaps.. but oem everything and some rebuilt calipers

had that problem a while ago with shaun drew as he was replacing a bottom balljoint and accidnetly nicked the cv boot with the grinder (because theres not a lot of room but he come over and replaced with a new one but everything we tried to do didnt work , jubilee clips didnt work , we were using a universal boot in the end we opted for a stretchy cv boot which went over the cv but we had to pull out the drivers side wheel and hub  and secured nicely around the hub ..been great ever since but it made a hell of a mess on my new rims a few times

Nice, what did that cost? I did think about changing my knob ( snigger snigger) as it’s basic bland looking to something interesting on my gen 6

well the gearknob was £25 from ebay , gear gaiter was £15 including sending 3 parts to jay peters and he did that and locking vinyl did the dome gel badge which was £6.50 for 2 badges (one spare ) .

Cripes, I can barely see your car!

hehe yeah these are still haolgens but slightly uprated versions and last nearly 3 years infact ive had two pairs of the dipped bulbs and theyve lasted me over 3 years and for the price of £15 on ebay from HIDdirect seller they have always done a great job for me ...plus no relays to kick out the 100w max power and they are fully legal too (even my mot guy thought they were HIDs lol..

I've been using the Nighteye LED bulbs in the MR2 for a few months now, they are way better than the H4 Osram bulbs in my other MR2. The GT4 needs a headlight upgrade as the dim candles in there at the moment are only just about useful.

I've not tried these Mtec bulbs, will have to go have a look. I'd be surprised if they are even better than the LEDs.

With LED is there a way to prevent the bulb warning light on the dash?

put it this way mate how many bulbs do you know have lasted over 3 years ...:) i highly rate the mtecs as ive had them over the full 6 years ..these are still bright enough but i did used to have people try to flash at me saying to turn my main beam lights ok so i flick the switch and then they realise jesus they are even brighter lol ...

ive not tried led versions either and tbh probably wont .

Well my bulbs mtec bulbs came today and are now fitted, well chuffed. I had some spare blue bulbs that I put in I think it’s the day lights bulbs. They are in the casing with main headlight bulb

Im after h4 bulbs for the wifes car. Do these mtecs actually push the light out further down the road or is it just a colour change?

yep they are very good alongside a cleaner lense too ..im going to be getting some for my girls astra soon as i believe they take the same h7 bulb bear in mind these bulbs have gone over 3 years now ..

I’ve run HID’s and LED lots for years but since the recent MOT changes I went for the mtec super whites. If there’s no visible power ballast/wiring or the lights brighten when powered up that’s all the mot tester can go off. I’ve tested my own car for years now but I still rather it be legal, it’s my license at risk after all.

I got the the super white dipped and main beam with the gold style fogs just for a laugh.

yeah at the time i wished i had done the fogs too with mtecs but didnt get round it it , they ae slightly different lol but only get used when its foggy

Hid’s will fail mot. No halogen headlamps can be converted. Not to mention the reflector housing on a gen 6 will dazzle the world.

I fitted mtec bulbs, whiter light, improvement over stanard bulbs. I’d say they give a better light projection than the 35w 5k hids I had before.

same MTEC superwhites are the only ones ive ever used in the 6 years and no messing about with HIDS and legalities of MOTs ..even recently my MOT inspector thought i had HIDS as they produce a nice white light and are a 55w bulb but safely kickout 100W  and i bought the main beams too plus the 1st set cost £14 for a pair and lasted 2.5 years , the current ones i have have lasted over 3 years.

I would have thought that LEDs don't produce as much heat as the original halogens but you never know with these dodgy Chinese LEDs going in places that weren't designed for them and catching fire like on peoples interior lights

Do you know if they are better than standard halogens and HIDs for the dipped and full beams?

From videos on YouTube often HIDs seem brighter. But then theres going to be cheaper HIDs and cheaper LEDs and its hard to tell which higher priced ones come from the same factory and which are actually worth the price difference

I'm thinking about LED full beams because I replaced my originals with Osram Nightbreakers and they've never focused well (either because the position in the casing or cause I couldn't get my hands in to put them in properly)

And like slybunda asked do they just plug in as they come or does it need an adapter? Those fans look like they might not fit in the gen 7 headlights

see thats where in the last 6 years ive stuck with the MTEC superwhites that give out more output than stock and produce a nice white HID look but from a 55w & 65w halogen bulb  plus theyve been very good over the years as the first set of dipped bulbs lasted me 2.5 years so the next time around i replaced the main beams too ..

They're not road legal in light units that are not specifically designed for LED lights. They have different heating characteristics to the light bulbs it's designed for, and it can therefore post a fire hazard.

Sadly they'll get you through an MOT as the tester cannot make any checks that require opening of anything.

hmm my mot guy said to me recently that did you realise that the law has changed now and HIDS are illegal  when he was testing my light units and i replied ah thats a good job i only have mtec halogens then lol ....i was also going to try the LEDS but decided im happy with the mtecs and have been since owning the celica.
