Agreed why bother spending anything on our cars? Its not like we enjoy them or find modern stuff a real turn off.

In fact why bother at all with cheap, mass produced crap.

No point, lets just let em waste away. easy to find another and then repeat.

7 years ive owned mine and most of the time you brush away dirt etc when you do jobs and also most of the time MOTs are the ones that say if your car is bad

  2. best way to fit all the bulbs is undo the bolts and ull up the light and that way its easy to change all the bulbs but you may also need to undo the bolt that i took our behind the rear edge of the bumper

    Interesting product description;

    Characteristics:
    Socket: 9005 / HB3
    Voltage: 12V
    Power: 65 Watt /seen as 130W/

I wonder how the claim "65W seen as 130W" stacks up with the physicists?

    bright enough for ya lol

dipped mtecs at that was around 630am

That sounds really good, i wonder whether the pay-off is generated extra heat which shortens bulb life expectancy (?) ...but i'm okay to accept the risk of that with the main beams. Where's a good place to buy from?

This is the sort of main beams i'd really like  B)

debs ive always bought on ebay but sometimes have had to get them from HIDirect (a ebay supplier)

As far as low beams are concerned, i'm fine to go with good quality standard 55w and like the idea of reliability and longevity.

TBH these days i'm getting more than a little cynical about why people upgrade the low beams, seems like a consumer lighting arms race of trying to out shine each other, probably why there is so much oncoming car dazzle these days and not to mention the tail gate dazzler, some of whom impersonate an emergency vehicle with blue flashiness

However, i maybe game to upgrade the main beams, can't see any harm in that. Is the Gen 7 a HB3 type?

Recommendations would be welcome here, as long as they're UK legal.

yeah the main beams are 65w but kick out 143w  ..i defo recommend the mtecs as they d are very legal and safe too no extra relays etc needed

first set of dip lasted me 2.5 yrs , 2nd set 3 years and the 3rd set i put in last year and yep they are bright lights and look like HID class funny thing was last year my MOT inspector said you do realise that HIDS are not allowed to be used as your car didnt come with them so i replied well its a good job i only have a set of halogens lol

  6. debs ive always used the Mtec superwhites in the last 7 years ive had the celica ...great output and very durable longest pair i owned was 3 years and ive just put the 3rd pair in and i have the dipped and main beams .

they run from a 55w unit and output 100w legally wheras there are some others that run from 100w and power out 150w (show use only)

you can buy the ones i have for £15 a pair from ebay/amazon

If it’s insecure or likely to become disattachted it’ll fail. If it’s still fitted but just rattling it’ll pass. If it’s removed it’ll pass as long as it’s not a heat shield on a fuel tank.

ye i recently had to add a few more bigger washers and nuts on mine as mine came lose i think i had to cable tie one end while all front ones and one rear back one are holding it better

i also have my MOT next month so a pair of rear droplinks i should be ok (hopefully)
