  1. nope i checked as all that was there was just the surface of the sump and i did try to feel see if anything peeled off but nothing would budge or saying that it may of even dropped into the vat of oil funny thing is when you pop the bolt back on it stops any leaks but i i put the new one on the bolt and tightened it up and started engine no leaks
  2. well guys i never got any for free and as i found out if they could give me a new bolt but would have to order one it would cost £5.50 so i said nah give me two fibre washers (they seem pretty strong) and done the oil change today and replaced filter no problem but i found there was no washer on the bolt i took out .
  3. cheers mate , i did spend two hours on the grade 240 wet sanding and then the rest of the time on the 2500 but ive just got some 3000 off ebay and this weekend i will carry on with that as i need to take out the fine scratches.quick question guys , if i was to do the inside of the spark plug channel around the spark plug holes and oil cap whats the best way to get around them , should i plug the holes with a wrag then tape over the holes would that work until later when i get a spark plug cover .
  4. hehe well i guess you better get out there and do it before me then lol ... yep mate its looking much better this weekend though but im still not 100% happy as theres some fine scratches
  5. hehe well thanks guys but yep Ger i never removed the cam cover what so ever last week i did have it covered so it wouldnt get dirty but then until a mate of mine said use cutting compound instead of water and it wont be as messy ... well ger i will try when i do it and show you the results , as long as i can remove the cable it should be pretty easy using the same method i adopted from the cover and yep it can be done because a few others have done it on here (fieldy i believe has already done it ) and yep so far its my best modification so far cheers round caps ?
  6. yeah mate i did that while it was left on the car , and once all the rocker cover has been done i will venture onto the 190 inlet pipes but only once im happy with the rocker 1st , i think i did a pretty good job considering i didnt take it off and didnt use any type of machine too. basically mate i used 240 ,400,600 , should of used 800 next but went straight onto 1200 and then finally 2500 but from the 600 i used meguars ultimate compound as a lubricant as it does a fantastic job as well as fill in any scratches etc .. im sure the 190 inlets are basically the same procedures as ive done but are more fiddly i think (fieldy did the inlets on his ) and yep it first started like this :
  7. spent more time on the cover this weekend so last weekend and this weekend total 8 hours , i did manage to bring it up a little more shinier but still more work to do and i used autosol too so its looking real good but i think im gonna need to go to 3000 or so wet n dry as i still have smaller scratches in the finish. but this weekend its starting to really look the part now : a week ago it looked like this: and more rubbing it looks like this but the back part has been polished as well near the rail :
  8. did i say not finished lol , wells heres a total of 8 hrs rubbing down :
  9. mine at the moment has to be my polished cam cover and polished inlets but still more to do :
  10. yeah i know mate , i know which one i would of chose even with the dreaded oil consumption
  11. yeah agreed myks does look the dogs without the spoiler and again im not too sure about the gt spoiler unless the full bodykit accompanys it
  12. yeah he was very helpful just to let me know what type they use for that generation celica .i will pop to toyota on monday and get it done on tuesday but tomorrow i have to do oil change on my girls audi and change sparkies (im glad its not as awkward as my previous v6 used to take hours to change them bloody things
  13. okay as carla had suggested the guy at TCB says it looks like its the fibred ones (he said they are pretty hard and non destructable apparently )
  14. yeah i often thought the peugeot was trying to be shaped like the calibra etc
  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SQFh8o7NMI but no mention of the VVTLI model or the other models
  16. yeah i was just talking to my uncle who owns a toyota rav4 and he thinks he has a fibred one and i just wanted to make sure they are ok to use
  17. so alloy ones would be a better alternative failing that could i use the copper ones like people have used .
  18. so planc are you saying that the alloy ones are better for using from 1996-2006 then
  19. ok so what would you guys recommend : *fibred washer - i hear these can break if done up too tight , also the ones from ebay arent they just for : x1 Genuine Toyota Engine Sump Plug Washer Standard Toyota replacement part. 19mm outer diameter and 10mm inner diameter. Part number: 90080-43037 Fits Models: Nearly all Toyota Models - specifically Hilux Pickup, Hilux Surf & Land Cruisers.* (Does not fit early Mk2 Hilux Pickup ) *alloy washer -these sound quite strong *copper washer - ive always used these on all my cars but i was amazed at when my local motorfactors said they are not listed in their books. so which one should i go for and is the size : Standard Toyota replacement part. 19mm outer diameter and 10mm inner diameter. Part number: 90080-43037 also cheers for letting me know about the filter ,cant say id seen a jap oil filter like that before lol
  20. i was chatting to chadmanpaul on fb earlier and hewas telling me he used some copper washers when he did the oil change and hasnt had any issue with leaks etc on his even though it says we are supposed to use the fibre washers from toyota (and the nearest one to me is 25 miles away plus im going there on monday but not before . any body else used a copper washer as well and can you tell me the sizes i would need .. alsos ive just looked i have a black filter on the car with japanese literature near the bottom but surely thats not the original filter from manufacture lol
  21. will these suffice : http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_157456_langId_-1_categoryId_255228#tab2
  22. or failing that spend hours polishing the cover like i did last weekend , ive not finished mine as yet either but its looking a tad different to original : from this : to that (but its not finished yet
