Ah crap. OK. I generally thought it was cause i cleaned the tailpipe out. Ill check the exhaust with a torch and phone. Although it should have a hole or a crack in it as its a stainless steel catback system and only about 3 months old. If there is a crack or a hole, i will going straight back to MIJ's to get it sorted. Lifetime guarantee and all.
Its only the first 20-30 mins of driving that the note changes. After that it sounds like it normally does.
As a general rule, cleaning the outside and tip of the exhaust shouldn't alter the note, only the looks
Haha. It wasn't just the tip and outside i done. LOL. I got the wire wool and polish right the way into the japcan as far as my hand would fit.

Huh? Dont start saying things like that guys. After driving it for about 20 mins, the sound got deeper and back to sounding how it did before.
This is what makes me think its the soot that changes the pitch of the sound. It only sounded louder for about 15 mins of driving after polishing out the tailpipe.

I cleaned my car today and polished. Also got some wire wool to the outside and inside of the exhaust. Then metal polished the outside and inside of it.
Started her up and wow.....she was roaring. Then the bloody looks i got from everyone as i drove down the street. The car was bloody loud.
Is this cause i cleaned out all the soot? The soot acts as a sort of silencer dont it?
All i know is the car was a lot louder than usual. Hehe.

Dont do it, the fekker will spend time sitting on the drive reminding you it needs an expensive fix like mine does :rolleyes:

Actually scrap that. Now the page has loaded up fully, its loaded up the generations that are relevant. But there's no 1997. Its only got years 1991, 1994, 1998, 1999, 2002.

Ill be paying for it tomorrow after i get a bit of dosh paid into my account. Should be with us thursday-friday. Fit it as soon as it arrives and let the ecu start learning and doing its thing. Ooo will have to buy some k&n cleaner now.

Just checked out the link. Yeah i've already messaged that seller with my car reg and asking them for a kit for my car. I will wait for them to get back to me. They got fast delivery too so will be all good to get to me before the dyno. LOL.

Amen to that sister. This is definitely something i dont likeI could do with the rain not coming straight off the roof and in through the window if i put it down a bit when its raining, grrr
that's on both models..
Also the power/speed/torque. Could definitely do with another 10-20 bhp/mph/lbft.

Im after a K&N 57i kit ready for the dyno run on Saturday but cant seem to find anywhere that sells them at a cheap price. Does anyone know a decent place to get one? Brand new or second hand? Or know anyone on here that will want to get rid of one?

Back in the day when i had my escort RS, every RS or even XR3i i see either flashed me or gave me the thumbs up.
I drove past a white faff yesterday, slowly, and beeped my horn and gave him the thumbs up. Nothing back. Then i pulled into the slow lane and waited for him to pass us. When he did, again i stuck my hand up as he went passed, and him and his misses just looked at us as if to say 'who are you and how do we know you'. Lol.
Out of all the GT's or faffs i've come across, only 1 has shared the love back, and that was from a woman in a white faff.
Completely different to the ford owners world. Lol.

Hey guys
My alarm went off 3 times during the night. The last one at about 1 this morning. So i left it off after that. Was really worried when i went to sleep.
Could it be the wind last night that was setting it off? If so, shall i just turn the sensitivity down a little bit?

Right ok. Thanks guys. I think ill live with it for now. If it gets much worst, ill stick it in a drawer and use the key. Although i wont be able to sleep at night knowing the alarm wont be on.

The only joins from the cat section to the rear of the car is the 2 seals either end of the de-cat pipe as the rest of it is welded.
The car is back to its normal sound now. It was after 20 mins of driving after i polished out the can. And it was just the can i polished out as i cant get my hand any further in past the jap can.
I will test it out again next time i polish the can out. Im pretty sure its just cause i cleaned it out as the note changes everytime i polish it out, then always returns back to original sound after half hour or driving.
MOT is due soon so i will see if there is a hole in it then.
