  4. I am sorry to say though, and bare in mind I really like Celicas, and they handle brilliantly, but unless you have heavily modified your suspension, having driven Porsches, they are in a totally different league to a Celica :-(
  5. When I first bought my gen 6 it was skippy on the back end. I had the tracking done where the fronts are tracked to the rear and though it improved it wasn't right. After having the technicians look at it where I work and not finding anything out of the ordinary I took it back to the tyre place. They had changed there alignment gear so they could track each wheel individually. The backs where found to be toeing in off the scale. Once adjusted, my car is now planted on the road. Morel of the story, Don't forget you can track the back end as well as the front. the increase in tyre size to the rear could increase the effect having given the back end more grip with wider tyres.
  6. As a general rule of thumb, just to through a bit of uncertainty in though, standard fit tyres tend to under read on the speedo to actual speed, usually to the tune of 10%. I have come across some accurate vehicles but not many. Also bear in mind that as a tyre wears your actual speed will reduce compared to engine revs due to loosing about 12mm diameter off your tyre from new to illegal (new tyre generally have 8mm tread, illegal 1.6 so say 2mm to be safe). If you drive with a sat nav or safety camera system, compare the indicated speed on this with your speedo.Whatever the percentage difference is between these, if the sat nav read higher by say 10%, you can choose a tyre with a 10% larger rolling circumference (3.142*diameter) before risking your licence. Just make sure you measure your tread depth first though and factor this into your calculations.
  7. Same with me but it also happens when I increase cruising speed. Maybe the system is just a bit over efficient when it comes to getting rid of heat in the water system??
  8. I would agree with the whole take it back scenario though I had a rubbing off side rear on my gen 6 and discovered the sliders where worn. Decent second hand calipers with carriers from Nix and all is sorted. thanx again Nix
  9. Likewise though I believe momentum is shell v-power. Spoke to a tanker driver once who said tesco momentum was shell.
  10. Just been to mr2bitz for spare parts. Great to deal with and would definately use again. Thanks

  11. Have recently changed my clutch. Before I could accelerate in a gear ok but trying to snatch a quick gear change it would slip. like you this was affected by different degrees one day to another. Now the clutch is changed (with an uprated version to boot) the power delivery is very impressive for a standard car, experiencing wheel spin on damp roads as I accelerate through 4000rpm in second.
  12. Have moved to Alfreton, fixed clutch (much better drive now) and enjoying driving again since owning a Celica

  13. Moving to Alfreton soon, can't wait yeah
