Mk Autos take delivery of my car on Friday morning. No hassle no fuss just "yeh I'll sort it U'll get it back last day in January. I went through everything I needed and everything wasn't a problem. I must thank Chris for the recommendation. There's light at the end of the tunnel.

You're right, Matt, they feel fine in practise g-thumb.gif

Funny enough tho' it started raining while they were fitting them and it hasn't stopped since, it that supposed to happen?

    What pressure do you use?

I'll check them soon and try 32psi ...?

One observation: these CrossClimates are only available in XL [Extra Load] so a bit boot and braces for us but at least i'll be okay putting on a few pounds come the festive chocolate eating season

    Debs

The OE tyres on my abarth 500 are XLs too, not sure what "load" its referring to as the car is v.light ?

  3. If it does go through expect the other party to challenge the mot which will as a minimum delay any payout and likely lead to a discussion over liability with them not offering to pay the full 100%

Also you'll have to pay your excess and won't get it back until it's settled and third party insurer pays out. Given the value of the claim it seems like a lot of hassle. I'd get them to pay in advance and have done with it.

If you really have injuries then it's worth claiming but otherwise this isn't an open and shut case so could be a slow process and you might not win. Be aware too that a company lawyer could easily overrule your email from the "claims advisor" (who is probably a very junior staff member) all they have to say is that her comment was made without full knowledge of all the facts

  4. Hey John

Re my reply to your other thread. If you do go see martin at mk he does tyres too and he was cheaper than anywhere in Chester too. Based on the car you have I assume you'll be avoiding budget tyres, I got pirreli and the price was spot on

  5. I heard some advice a few years ago about preserving your battery in the winter especially if the car's being used for shorter journeys in the main. Switch off all electrics and maybe give a couple of light blips of the throttle or let the engine run for a few seconds and THEN turn off the engine. I'd imagine most batteries are pretty resilient if they're treated well in winter.

I was always told by my dad to turn the lights off once I'm on the driveway. That extra few seconds with the car running nothing but the engine before you switch it off really helps apparently

  6. Euro car parts don't sell rear hubs or banana arms?

I can sell front wishbones with updated poly bushes for less than euro car parts wishbones.

I wouldnt worry besty, it seems slys current plan is to be annoying on this type of thread. He's all over mixer72 on his similar thread in another section.

  7. I'm seeing a few "camps" emerging here and it looks like I'll straddle both.

32 and work in tech for a bank as a project manager.

I got my gen 7 a 3 years ago and ran it for 18 months, now driving a diesel estate as I have a kid and dog.

However, as soon as said kid can get in and out of a gen 7 on his own I'm getting another.

So I'll fall into the late 20s wanting something cool looking and quick ish, and hopefully also into the mid 30s returning to cool cars after a few years of boring family estate cars
