Bah humbug! I used to have a slightly weak gas lift on my gen7's boot, now, I am now having to use a plank to hold my boot open!
I had replaced one of the weak gas lifts, no problem.
The other one had a completely rusted / rounded off bolt attaching the gas lift to the rear door (the two bolts in the body were fine). So after a lot of swearing I thought I'd drive it to Oxford and present the rusty bolt to the family menfolk, and see which of them would compete to twist it off for me.
But in the mean time I decided to try screwing the two body bolts back in - and the screw threads have disappeared overnight. So I have no way of attaching *any* gas lift to one side :-( Is this fixable by myself, or will the garage need to take the body apart to fit another nut? I asumed the screw thread was part of the body, but it looks like it was just rusted in on the other side, and I was just quick in changing the first gas lift.
