  1. I agree with Gen6GT ... love Gen 6's, been driving them for over 11 years ... (though i do wish water didn't drip in when using the wipers, when window is down lol)
  2. I like 'off beat colours', and that one isn't that bad ... Seen a metallic burnt orange (kitted) Gen 7 near Strenstall - now that was a lovely
  3. 1.8 ST Gen 6? or Gen 7? Why I ask is my Gen 6 would still be going strong.. just a thirsty oil drinker Was that miles? or an import on Ks? Hoping to find a GT '94 as a bench mark...
  4. must be a second car lol... or your walk everywhere ... I do 4 miles just to get to civialization lol
  5. wow ... do you actually drive it or just polish it lol
  6. That's not bad... i bought my ST with 24 on the clock, and look what i clocked ... Gen 6 ST engines are good... well mine was....
  7. Now I know that i love driving... and would have clocked up 210000 plus now if i hadn't lost the '96 1.8ST Tropicana to ice in Feb.... But would like to know how other Gens are doing with their high mileage.... The ST began to be an oil drinker at 180000, but didn't leak... (just think it evaporated with engine heat lol)... Now put 10000 extra on the '94 GT, 111115.... Would love to know who holds the 'Highest Mileage' Club Member Title... and if they have had any problems with their engines in later life.....
  8. Cant believe you only have 122 on the clock lol... I clocked up 195 on my '96 Gen 6 (would be on over 210 now if ice hadn't taken her in Feb)
  9. Sorry.. was at a concert yesterday and just got back from a ride out today. Just looked at last brake bill for '96 ST was £709.66! Front & rear discs and pads, caliper, brake cable and stableser link... no wonder she handled so good after that overhaul! Just a shame ice took her 9 months later Hope you get yours sorted later this week...
  10. As I've still got all the records for the Tropicana '96 ST (RIP) , I'll look through to see the last lot of work they did to the vehicle to sort my 3 yr dics nightmare out. Will post most likely Sat afternoon
  11. arrhh and will that definately solve the problem? Keep me posted, as it would be good to know for future reference ....
  12. my current project is bringing Blu's 17yr's exhaust pipe back to chrome.... been polishing for 2 weeks and about 20 man hours so far (using Autosol, Wirewool and WD40)... My next project is to invent a protective/rust proof spray that disolves built up carbon with one spray, and shines to dazzling chrome in seconds
  13. Kar1.. get your hands off that hammer! Who have you been taking the car to? Local Dealer, or local garage? Remember your car is +3 (over 9 yrs), so you can get 50% off Dealer Labour. Book it in for half hour brake investigation only, and see what they say and take it from there...
  14. I came to the same conclusion... I had a Toad fitted for £433.20, including rip out... best thing i did.... even self imoblises (if you walk away from the car and forget to alam it)
  15. :(wont tell you how much i spent ... it would frighten you lol did you get your alarm system sorted?
  16. even worse .. spent 8 hours getting it ready for a show... then parked it right near the arena where everyone was racing... got covered in dust .. even got under my bonnet
  17. It's not fun... use to judder like hell when breaking, really use to throw me... and cost a fortune in discs. Hope you fine the cause soon... what mileage is your car? This problem started on mine around 160000
  18. I had a simular problem on my '96 1.8ST for a bout 3 years. Went through 3 sets of discs a year, kept giving the feel of warping. No one could find the fault and were at a loss. Eventually found the fault. It was a caliper cradle. The caliper itself worked fine, but the play on the cradle (with age) was producing excessive heat. Replaced it and had no problems.
  19. Is that to check up on my progess  Just back from YMS, and car covered in dirt due to being parked near track... No one would have thought I'd spent 8 hours cleaning Blu yesturday lol
  20. 2 1/2 hours.. I spent on my exhaust pipe! But it's shinny. Will pick up fine wire wool to do box
  21. using elbow grease at mo... will get some on way to YMS tomorrow
  22. Been working on Blu since 10am, and shattered! Currently getting yrs of exaust crap of my tail pipe... and been at it for an hour using the above product... it's shifting ... but slowly.. Does anyone know of a better product to use in the future? This product is ruining my nails lol
