  1. I'm in the Pickering/Malton area, on the A64 to York daily (work), and Brid road on a sunday ... must have missed you There isn't that many of us north of York. Me, Simon (Rillington) and a ice white gen 6 i flyed in Malton. . Have seen a Gen 5 Black recently on A169 ... must have been on holiday, passing through ...
  2. Looks like the tools are gonna have to come out lol ... was hoping that i could do a couple of driving manouvers to bounce the bugger out lol
  3. Will have a go when i get home tonight Just pity the poor buggers behind me on the A64 tonight lol - my music will be on full blast to drown out the noise!
  4. The road work guys have been at it again re surfacing the roads, and it sounds like i've flipped a stone into my brakes. Thought it would flick out again at 80 but it didn't. It sounds like a squealling bird... and when i apply the brakes, the squealing stops and the clicking starts... People are backing off (when behind me) thinking a part is gonna drop off Blu ... Any hints on getting the begger out (without disassembling the caliper and disc system?)
  5. I hadn't touch a Toyota Garage in the eleven years of owning the Tropicana, as I used local garages (and there had been many blunders ..) When I bought Blu ('94 GT) in Feb, used the local garage again to fit new clutch (£367.62) and Timing Belt & Pulleys (£370.12)... I was having problems with judder, and had had him retracked and balanced, and the garage said I needed new track rods.. so I rang Toyota in Scarborough for the parts. Whilst picking them up I saw a leaflet about 3+Club (on my aged car I would get 50% disc on labour and 20% disc on parts). I asked how much would they charge me to quickly look around the car (bought with little service history, and had 6 previous owners).. Cost me £25 and they told me that I didn't need the track rods (refunded)... told me that the car was sound, wobble was down to wrong alloy bolts, but would need brakes doing in a couple of months... In May they drove to my work (38 miles), dropped me off a brand new state of art hybrid (wow did 78mpg - and fast with speed buttton), and took Blu for Brakes and investigation of vibration, re-fit boot lining with clips £268.70... End of May got them to do Full Service, MOT, fit new cig lighter unit, and more interior clips £304.86)... I used a local tyre garage for 4 x P6000... and this garage nearly killed me 2 weeks ago (aquaplained as 50 on A64).. they had fitted the wrong size tyres... rang Toyota, and they told me what should have been fitted... On Friday, I got a shock when getting the car out for work... oily/water fluid spread all over the underneath of the front end of car ... topped up radiator and drove to work.. kept moving him every couple of hours to check the spillage... pooling, so popped him to the garage across road.. they said i needed a new radiator £280... Told them to put Rad Bung in (£12) for the time being and I'd sort it in a couple to months... Rang Toyota to price up a radiator... they said to see how the bung does first, check for leakage... if it doesn't solve the problem, ring them and they'd pick him up (to investigate first). They never do any work or replace anything until I've had the price breakdown and ask them to do the work and I always aask for and get the hybrid. I can not fault the Scarborough Dealership for service and advice
  6. No ... (and did you cut her up?????)
  7. Funny ... I had a guy in a boxer van (driving towards me) wave and flash me on Flaxton Road (near York) (didn't have a clue who he was ... but may have been a Celica driver in disguise .... (and no... there were no bobbies about, or horses and I was driving at 30 through the village)
  8. Will look at these too ... problem is, you're a GT4 and weight ratio is different to a GT ... might not seem much, but if the ratios are slightly out... so are the wheels http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Falken/FK452.htm
  9. Are you mad? or Just young??? Good tyres are what prevents you from killing yourself and others on the road... doesn't matter if you're a tootler or a commuter. I do between 18000 to 21000 miles a year. I've seen crashes at 30 miles an hour and 60 miles an hour in the wet.... Do you know how much damage a car can do by aquaplaining on a dual carriage way at 40-50 miles per hour sideways? I've been there... seen it! worked for the manufactures of emergency hydraulic cutting equipment for 10 years - not pleasant! Metal crushs like a tin can. Good tyres for both Wet and Dry are a must Rant over!
  10. Trying to find F1s but none in stock ... Will look at price to change to F1 Assys What do you know about Avon ZV5? See link in post
  11. They aren't brilliant in the wet lol http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Goodyear/Eagle-NCT5.htm ... another aquaplainer
  12. Thanks Dublet ... will look up reviews for these... Cant find DCT5... have these been replaced with NCT5?
  13. Want this set of 4 off this week, real aquaplainers! In heated discussion with garage who recommended them...Last year ran Goodyear F1 (brilliant summer tyres in dry and wet, grip like spiderman) - (though have to be swapped before snow and ice makes a show ) The only problem with the F1s is that they didn't last long Update! Garage have admitted that they have fitted wrong size tyres to my 17yr. Should have been 205/50/R16 87W (no wonder I'm getting the worse/dangerous ride of my life!) Offered me straight swap to Avon ZV5 http://www.tyrerevie...re/Avon/ZV5.htm GoodYear Efficient Grip http://www.tyrerevie...ficientGrip.htm + £164 extra to pay Yokohama S http://www.tyrerevie...ama/S-Drive.htm +£207 extra to pay Bridgestone RE050 87V http://www.tyrerevie...tenza-RE050.htm + £140 extra to pay Are they mad!... the last 3 dont have the edge like the F1s in wet (unless you know better )... Avon ZV5 appears to score the best grip in dry and wet...(wear on par with F1s - sadly ... price you pay for grip) What do you think?
  14. What pressure have you set your P6000 at? and are they the same dims as mine?
  15. Just looking into this now ... what site did you use for the info?
  16. Use to run Goodyear on my '99 Mono Sports on the ST, and their pressure was 36. Moss's have now put new Pirelli P6000 205/55 R16 91W on all, except PSR (just noticed this is 205/55 R16 91V today) on these alloys, for everyday use - running on a Gen 6 GT. Originally they said to pressure them at 34, but I was getting slight wobble at 70, so they've now suggested and dropped the pressure to 32.... Alls fine in the dry, but got a bit of a shock Friday on the way home. There was surface water... but not masses, as the rain had stopped a couple of hours earlier. I aquaplained slightly at 50 just joining the dual part of A64... everyone else were managing ok with speeds of 60 and over... My questions are.... Does 3 tyres with 91W and 1 with 91V (Passenger side rear) make a difference? What pressure would everyone else recommend for these tyres? Does under pressure give less grip in wet? (as I aways thought it was over pressurised that caused slides) This incident freaked me out, and dont trust these tyres in the wet (bought them 23 April 11), so would like to get this sorted asap Just found out these are reknown for it .. see link http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Pirelli/P6000_2.htm
  17. Good thing you saw his stripes... this new van is a pain as it's plain silver... it's just the square black portholes that is giving it away ... sneeky sods
  18. I'm currently watching my ass.. front back and sides... the buggers keep moving lol... They're not even keeping to the lay bys.. caught it today with it's bum out of one of the country side roads ... they must be on commission for the most pulls
  19. We've never had camera's up here, that's why it's been car and biker heaven until now. The problem we have is the roads, and the amount of traffic on them.. not really the speeding. People head to the coast when the sun shines, and because the roads aren't dual (only part heading towards York), they get stuck in stand still heading towards Whitby and Scarborough and a nearby Theme Park. The fustration (fueled with heat) hits the drivers and they make mistakes.. I saw two incidents this weekend.. both caused at 10 -20 mph . runnins... their concentration just lapsed for a couple of seconds ....
  20. Test driving it here first for 6 months, then will be putting it in other North Yorks spots... Shame ... A64 use to be a lovely run in the morning ... will have to go Castle Howard way now (at least it's more scenic)
  21. Appears not .. look at the ones they are using in Dublin There's no warning on the road that they are mobile... In Brid at least there's signs everywhere to warn you
  22. Me and a red Gen 7 tonight were nearly caught out by the new menace on the A64.... and no we weren't racing, just over taking a line of slow moving traffic on the dual This new van has no high visual markings ... just looks like a silver mini winnebago ... Check out them testing it at Elvington http://www.yorkpress...eeding/?ref=rss - has five cameras providing 360-degree coverage, would be deployed on more than 100 identified speeding hotspots in York and North Yorkshire. - the cameras could detect the speed of approaching traffic from up to 1,000 metres away - the camera software would prevent people lying about who was behind the wheel as an image on DVD is taken of the driver - the system will record other traffic violations, including not wearing a seatbelt and using a mobile phone. Was trying to find some footage on YTube of the new vans... but found this camera/driver instead, and thought maybe some of you might find it amusing http://www.youtube.c...DesGarrett&aq=f
