  1. Finish groundwork or start on the motor?

  2. Hi again! Reassemble using copper grease on all mating surfaces, especially on the pad backs and brake disc to hub. I use it between the anti-squeal shims too. Put a little on bolt threads....well everywhere really! Scott
  3. I havent seen this stuff in a while! I used it on brake calipers/pistons in my Ford days. Very effective for sticking pistons if the car is not used much. Not used it since I had Lexus/Toyota cars.....funny that! .
  4. Nice find that. Times like this I wish I had a car trailer Could do with a new project.
  5. Hammerite is ok, but depending on how you drive, go for some high temp stuff. (Ever thought on doing them green?)
  6. Years ago a friend used to wipe his MG Metro down with WD40. It did shine I give him that! Probably the best thing to do with an Austin Sod the paint, I'd be more worried about someone flicking a fag out of their window......the car would be a fireball!!! Explain that to the insurance!
  7. Have to agree with the wear side of that! The last set of Conti's on my Peugeot lasted just over 8000miles....when doing 500/week....well you do the math! (Excellent on the Celica over the last month, very predictable tyre) Trying the Pug with Bridgestone Turanza T001 at the mo as an experiment. So far, after a week, good performance for a £100 tyre. The car is nearly 5-years old now, 120k on the clock. I've had around 12 sets of tyres on it, and tried most top end boots, but still trying to find the holy grail of tyre
  8. Hi, A mate had Federals a few years back on a Civic typeR....He did not like them much, but dont think they were the 595rsr though. I'm using Continental sportcontact2 at the mo, I think they're excellent. With a 520bhp 4wd monster like that, doubt any tyre would cope
  9. I'd eliminate the hydraulic side of it first. Make sure you get full travel on the clutch release fork. If thats ok, time to drop the gearbox Good luck!
  10. Spent my "youth" with Fords. Sierra Cosworth, Escort turbo etc....Started to cost way too much money and with a family, it was getting a bit too selfish to continue with my hobby. I then grew up and had a few Lexus, GS300 and the LS400. Awesome cars, but the fuel they drank blew them out of the picture! Liked the Celica Gen5 since I first seen one in 1990 when in college. Always wanted one from that day. As I have had company cars the last 15-years, it's difficult to justify an indulgence car with the wife, but the Celica fits just right! Cheap to insure and run, cant fault it! After driving a french oil burner all week, it's a pleasure to drive the Celica!
  11. I use the bilt hamber clay bar. Best on the market. I would trust it to work as they have a good rep. But as listed above kurust, jenolite and hammerite rust treatment are all good. I used to be into 80's Fords....so i know!
  12. Cant really flash other drivers in a Gen5, by the time the lights have flipped up, theyre gone!
  13. I would rather the body colour on the bonnet. Find a decent body shop in your area and ask how much they will paint it for. Do all the prep and primer yourself. If still too expensive....Wrap it up! If you have the luxury of a garage, get into spraying a few panels! I bought a bonnet off a sierra and practiced spraying with celly first then progressed onto 2-pac then did a whole car. Done three cars since. Much satisfaction! Moved to a house with no garage last year ......not happy.
