The cs only has one support bar, just like all the other gen 5's, it's a very light aluminium extrusion, designed to give the bumper some shape, and prevent vibration - it won't even withstand a 10 mph impact - the top one is merely a sheet metal locating strip, as fitted to all gen 5 bumpers.
-
I think I understood what you were saying, you seem to be advocating that anyone fitting a cs bumper to their non cs car, should surrender the impact protection the standard crash bar gives, in favour of the lack of protection that the correct cs bumper support provides - I don't really get that logic.
The initial point I made about the gen 5 bumpers being interchangeable, was nothing to do with the rights or wrongs of swapping bumpers, and/or crashbars, I was merely pointing out to cheltgirl, that their is no such thing as a 'widebody' bumper.
-
That's exactly my point - the cs bumper support offers no protection, it isn't supposed to - so if as you suggest, someone fits a cs bumper to a non cs car, but doesn't also use the cs support, then they have full protection, but if they also fitted the cs support, they would have no protection - is that the point you're trying to make, that they should use a cs support with a cs bumper, and throw away the protection that the original crash bar offered.
-
All gen 5 bumpers used the same crash bar - except for the lightweight CS support - which offered no protection at all.
-
Bumpers are all interchangeable - but that one is a facelift gti bumper - I think I'd rather have a genuine CS bumper for my £55k

I've seen other pictures - definitely narrow, they have completely different sills.

The repsol car is clearly original - it may have been re-painted red ( why would anyone do that ? ) so the 2nd picture could be legit - how it can then transform into what looks like a narrowbodied car, with gti front bumper, I don't know. It may have been crashed and re-shelled, is that allowed ? Why would it not be re-shelled using a widebody ? It just struck me as a lot of money for what looks on the surface to be a dodgy 'ex works' car.

KG motorsport ( N.Ireland ) are selling the nasty looking red car for £55k. They are reputable, but it looks dodgy to me, it looks like either 3 different cars bearing the same tte reg - or an original tte repsol car has been re-painted in red, and then converted to a shitty looking narrowbodied car, as it currently appears.
-
Most of the tte cars are over there - so I doubt it's a red herring

The grey car really does need a dedicated new owner, and a highly skilled welder/fabricator, I have broken cars that were much better underneath.
-
The grey car is now on one of the other sites - gumtree I think

I'm glad it all stacks up, my initial thought was that it might hold some hidden nasties, hence why he only valued it at slightly more than his gti.
My previous comment was aimed at malcolms post about the grey swindon car - it made no sense, cause you beat me to the punch.

That's the one, Bob Loch's old car - lovely on the top, but truly horrible underneath. The buyer has given up after a week, yet expects to make a profit out of it.

Just one thing - if you keep it stock, fit some spacers on the rear wheels

Lovely car, my favourite colour after white - it's actually nicer than white, but white is the colour of the tte cars, so it's more desireable.
Teal has always been considered the rarest colour for a CS, but loads of them have recently surfaced on the internet.

Higher cruising speed basically - your car will be around 3k revs at 70mph - CS is around 85mph at 3k revs

Well done - let me know what you need, I'm breaking 3 at the moment.

Price is very dependant on which st185, uk gt4 or carlos sainz ltd edition, or an import - the values vary quite a lot.
And this is why I have no faith in humanity.......

Blue or brown, depending on uk or jdm - did you make sure the glass is scratch free, I've seen some so badly scratched, you have to lower them to see out.
