  1. Martin is (as I know you are sir) a GT4 expert so I'm sure he will give the right advice to ensure the setup is safe.

When you go to his place there is everything from bog stock through to hugely modded (including martins own which was specced to show posers in R8s what fast really is :-))

What's your target bhp wise ?

Thanks for the promotion Scott :xmas_biggrin: I am expert in a few things, but not celica's - or even mechanics in general, I'm just an enthusiast, maybe a bit more enthusiastic about certain variants than most, maybe even a gifted amateur - not an expert though.

My comment wasn't a dig at Martin - one of a select few people I actually take his advice as gospel. I've dealt with Rob, and supplied some of the parts he'll be using to acheive his goals. He has a rare thing which I envy, but can also be dangerous if left untempered - boundless enthusiasm, you can tell from his posts. I'd hate for his enthusiasm to get the better of him. He has hardware capable of well over 400 bhp, beyond the limits of an old, stock 205 engine in a fwd chassis.

  2. Look for rocking horse poo - You'll have a better chance of finding that than 16" roulettes. I've got all sizes, except 16" - I've never seen any. Compomotive may have some new, but they'll be £800. I have occassionally seen 16" for different pcd, so you could make them fit with pcd changing spacers - but then you may have problems with arch rubbing. 16" crono's are far more readily available.

One option would be a set of ronal aero's or turbo's - they are roulette style wheels, and you will get 16", but they'll need painting, as they are normally black with polished lip.

  3. You really need to stick with et35 on a narrow bodied car, and don't be too concerned with the speedo it will already to wildly innaccurate, going up a size will more than likely make it closer to being correct.

55 profile is more suited to a transit van or caravan wheels, I run 35's for best performance - there's a loss of comfort with that size, but a 45 would be a good choice for handling and comfort.

  4. If it was actually a gt4, I'd understand why teddybears for a bit of originality, but the world's your oyster, gti wheels are s**t, so you would never want them, that gives you licence to go wild, 16" crono's are reasonably easy to get, not that pricey, and look great on a black car, in white or silver.

  5. I would wait until you get the car back, then borrow some bigger wheels to test - I think that if you stick with 15's, a. You're always going to struggle getting a decent tyre, and b. You're going to be wasting potential performance. 16" or even 17" will look better, and give you scope for the brake upgrade that you're probably now going to need, you should have no loss of acceleration with 200 bhp.

If you do stick with the teddybears - avons were my tyre of choice.

  6. The cps now require a 90% probability of a conviction, before they will launch a prosecution - to***rs. When my celica supra was totalled by a lorry on the m/way - ran me into the central armco - then failed to stop, I provided a photo of the lorry making good his escape, the full reg no, the company logo on the side curtains, did they prosecute ? Not at first, I had to start private proceedings against the company - that managed to shock them into action. One thing's for sure, things aint what they used to be, and getting worse by the day.
