  1. If it's failed an MOT and previous one has lapsed as well then you can't drive it unless you are driving to a MOT station that the car is booked into. Driving it home instead of a MOT station would be illegal.

    There's nothing stopping you from a break in the journey for refreshments etc... if your house happens to be inbetween, then you could go home first.

  2. Short distance - which Peterborough to York is, it will not pay to hire something to move it yourself. As Ams said, shipley - but wait for a day or two, the quotes will get a lot cheaper as they see you rejecting quotes.

    The deposit you pay is the shiply commission - about 25%, so ask them for a card, so you can contact them directly next time - for a 25% cheaper quote.
