  1. How badly would you liked it 'shopped? If you'd like it done at quick bodge job quality, you're in luck...
  2. It would seem fairly likely that the 0-60 times for the turbo MR2 (same engine, lighter car) were similarly conservatively stated?
  3. For a straight 0-60 I'm still toiling to see how a car that's over 100kg heavier and with extra transmission losses from the same engine is expected to accelerate better. You can do a side by side comparison at http://www.torquestats.com/index.php?pid=comparison Putting a "Toyota MR2 Turbo Mk2 Rev 3" against "Toyota Celica ST205 GT-4" I get 194bhp/ton for the MR2 and 186bhp/ton for the GT4, and listed 0-60 times of 5.7 and 5.9 seconds, 0-100 of 14.4 and 15.4.
  4. Yeah, like I said, the Celica's boot is cavernous by comparison - but then that's the benefit of having the engine in the wrong place
  5. That's what the little bins behind your seats are for :-) (and I note that your picture is attached to a post saying "2 sets of golf clubs in the back of a Mk2... Superb boot. ")
  6. Gonna disagree here, while the MR2 (Mk2 at least - I know the Mk3 is comically lacking in storage) certainly doesn't have the Celica's cavernous boot, it's still a decent and practical size - never had problems getting the weekly shopping in there, nor (eg) a Dyson in its box. You also have a bit of space under the bonnet for squashy bag type things...Definitely worth a test drive, different to the Celica, both great cars in their own right.
  7. Mind that the Celica is also about 200kg heavier (~1,250kg vs ~1,440kg). http://www.mr2oc.net/videos/mr2_gt_vs_gt4.avi shows a 245ps MR2 against a 255ps GT4 - again not quite stock but fairly evenly matched power wise.
  8. While not quite the car comparison you wanted, this shows that the MR2 doesn't seem to have a major problem putting down power when compared to an AWD Celica:
  9. Almost tempting to post a question asking how much he thinks it'd cost to restore it into a nice TA22 rather than a comedy "lookalike"...
  10. I love the way he 'needs something practical' and then suggests an MR2 turbo; while it's a lovely car (have had two of the NA ones), I'd struggle to describe it as practical in ways that ... thing .. isn't.
  11. Yes, though she prefers being a passenger - she finds the gears awkward to change in the Celica (which surprises me, since I don't recall her objecting to eg the heavy clutch in the MR2 I had before). It also gets my son's seal of approval - he doesn't do this in her RAV4
  12. Surprised the blue one didn't come in for a hiding when the scoreline went the wrong way for Celtic too!
  13. Yeah, I had someone break off the passenger side wing mirror on my '2 while it was parked overnight. Scrotes. Sorry to hear about your Celica!
  14. This one on ebay's £16, with some brake cleaner and a brush chucked in?
  15. Would love to see their reaction if you told them it was for an orange '78 Morris Marina... :-)
  16. I tried googling "white brake caliper paint" and came back with this one on ebay for £6.95 in a tin? Slight downer that the seller's away for a couple of weeks. Then there's other stuff like kits including some brake cleaner for £16.95 here?
  17. Here's a 1993 one that's had the BEAMS engine transplanted in, ad posted about a week ago... looks to have had most/all of the work done by Rogue Motorsports, a name I recall from my IMOC days!
  18. Poor old Veilside! But aye, obviously the new owner feels the same way - as he remarked, "First job is to get rid of that kit, luckily the fella selling it has the original bumpers. So she'll be going in for them to be fitted and resprayed".
  19. Eh, they're out there - someone on IMOC picked one up mere days ago!
  20. If you hunt around, there are MR2s with the BEAMS engine as standard - basically you want a JDM Rev 5 from memory. Here's one from a year or two ago: http://www.roguesystems.co.uk/images/rev5beams/
  21. Clearly you've not been looking on the map! Been on it for, er, can't remember how long but quite a while anyway
