  1. When the missus took her Ka to trade it in as part exchange against a new Aygo Blue the bloke at the Toyota place offered £4300 in part exchange. We agreed, but when I got home I went to the (in)famous "Webuyanycardotcom" sharks, who offered £4700. We had to take it to a local garage which was an agent for said sharks, who then proceeded to find "problems" (there were none which we hadn't told said sharks about, being mostly stone-chips which had been properly touched-in and were only visible on very close inspection) and downsized the offer to £3200. We told them to stuff it, and I eventually put it on Ebay and sold it immediately for £4600. The moral in there is easy.
  2. You may not want them, but I'd bet a month's pay that, over the whole UK population, you're in the minority.
  3. I'm getting around 360-380 miles from brimful to low-fuel light flickering, and I don't hang about.
  4. Anyone tried these people, I'm looking to get a stainless catback for my facelift Gen 6 Vert and found these people on Ebay. Price looks reasonable, and includes fitting: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toyota-Celica-Exhaust-Stainless-Steel-UK-/220266020773?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3348e0bfa5 Or maybe someone could point me to another decent source.
  5. I hope they're what you want. I haven't had a chance to look at them, they're probably American, but might be of some help.
  6. I've found some manuals which may be of some use to members and I've uploaded them to a hosting site. They are in pdf format so you'll need a reader to view them. 9. From my experience with online taxing you'll get the new disk long before the end of June. I've been doing this for as long as it's been possible and my discs have all come 2-4 days after the transaction.
  10. When have you taxed it from? If from the start of June and you carry the receipt details you'll probably be OK - as the man said, technically it's an offence not to display, but the police have access to the Swansea database in real time so they can check immediately whether you're taxed or not, and will probabl;y turn a blind eye to the failure to display bit. OTOH, if the tax is from July 1 you can't legally drive your car until July 1. Also bear in mind that if you are driving an untaxed car your insurance will almost certainly be invalidated, in which case the police can seize the car immediately. Oh for the days in the dim and distant past when you could stick a beer-bottle label in your tax disc holder and get away with it!
  11. Trousers could do with shortening, though...
  12. Thanks guys. Pissing with rain here so I haven't had a chance to do it yet but hopefully tomorrow will be drier.
  13. Jam doughnuts for me, although a few cream slices would be very welcome
  14. Personally I wouldn't go anywhere with a chunk out of the sidewall. That's the part of the tyre which flexes with every bump and every change of direction, and a sudden failure would be catastrophic.
  15. This has really got me stumped. The interior lights are on all the time, unless I turn them into the off position. I can't find the boot sensor, I suspect it's under the boot trim so I'll have that off tomorrow. Where will I find the integration relay?
  16. Had them out yesterday, doesn't look to be a problem with them. I'll be checking the boot lid today, and also the interior lights - they don't come on, but I may have them switched-off at the moment. I'll need to check the relay, too, if I can find it. Thanks for all the replies.
  17. Great, thanks guys. WD-40 seems to be the cure for most ailments.
  18. Mine has just started coming on and stays on all the time now, even with the doors and bootlid closed and the ignition off and key out. This is causing problems with my intrusion and remote locking alarm. Anyone know where on the door or the frame the sensor is? I've had a good look but can't see anything which might be the culprit. Car is my Gen 6 UK facelift Vert.
  19. Where would be a good place to get front brake pads for my 1999 Gen 6 Vert? Local place has quoted me £80, which seems excessive.
  20. I like the idea but what does it cost?
  21. On a trip down to Pompey yesterday I noticed a humming sound which increased with speed from around 30mph up to around 70mph, then seemed to stop. Decelerating the hum started again. In my earlier days it generally signified a failing wheel bearing, so when I got back I jacked the car up and checked the wheel/hub by slightly twisting it (which was how I used to check the older cars I had years ago) but there was no discernable play, No knocking on turning,so I guess it's not a CV joint problem and the hum is still there when turning left or right at speed. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions.
