No, Skiny. It just wouldn't be you to fall into line with the rest of us in the 21st century. Carry on being..."different"

Are you engineers aware that your opinion contradicts that of the advice given by tyre suppliers and manufacturers such as Michelin?.
-
If you need a new caliper, rather than a service kit, they're cheaper here..
If they don't come with new bleed nipples, order a couple of them too.
-
Is this because of an upper strut brace?.
As long as the terminals are the same size as your current 005, either a 053 or 158 are fitted to a face lift.

With colder nights beginning to bite, just thought it was an opportune time to mention the LIDL Battery Charger will be on sale in store for a few days from Thursday.
I was so impressed with mine, that I bought another as a "spare", the next time they were made available.

Rob (who shares Kev's unit) always gives good advice, and maybe a good price too.

I work on cars daily and trust me some of them you might as well fill them up through the bloody dipstick lol. Some manufacturers have designed them so badly or put like a plate blocking oil from going in apart from a tiny gap meaning you have to dribble it in, most frustrating thing in the world
I have an oil stain on the drive after not realising there are two oil filler tubes on Lyn's MG TF
I used the nearest, and by far easiest to get to...wrong!

You always put new tyres on the front especially with front wheel driven cars.
Where did you get that information from, Mr Webb?.
-
Fair do's...but I'd STILL take the GT86 .!...I'm NOT a modder.
Neil
I could be wrong here, but didn't I see a pic. of your car on another forum, with SAGA seat covers fitted

I would say about 90% of drivers just replace one tyre as and when they need too and more often than not will go for the cheapest option - you don't see all these cars crashing as most of them are very rarely driven to the limit.
They do that out of complete ignorance, us "in the know" would avoid mixing tyre brands on the same axle, or fitting cheap "ditch-finders". SKINY, being a long standing member on here, should know better. You don't need to drive on the limit to compromise safety, fitting cheap tyres increases stopping distances for example.
I remember David (Grey Racer) suggesting Chinese tyres should be bright pink instead of black, to warn other road users, and thought what a good idea that was.

I've heard many owners in Yorkshire reverse to work and back..the lower mileage on the clock reduces depreciation.

You're joking, right?..as only a total retard would do that.
-
Neil..that is £56, not £5.60!!!!
You could buy a new tyre for that
-
I knew this would cause trouble.
It's those pesky Gen 5 owners again, Dean

I'm glad you mentioned it wasn't your car, Carla.
As long as you understand, you're in the minority with your view

i would argue against that kev from personal experience from having a car that had worn tires on the front on a wet road and having it slide straight through a bend because i couldnt turn the front end around the the corner and ended up head on with a car coming the other way and no it wasnt my car
how many people are going to go and drive on skid pans which are bascilly lakes
where the data showing the same speeds on both tests
OK
I would argue that when losing grip on a wet bend, it's easier to lift off the loud pedal to regain control, than be in a spin situation.

Askari has nailed it. New tyres on the front is the outdated standpoint. Even my elderly mechanic needed to be corrected by someone who fits new tyres six days a week.
PS Apologies for the US spelling on the vid.

ETS have offered me an MOT test and full Air-Con service (without guarantee) for £55, but all their branches are in the East Midlands.

Me Grandad wer a miner an all, wokked down pit all his life he did. He never had a motor car, but did have one of those new fangled telephones installed in the 70's.
..and just to keep loosely on topic, when he retired, he was given a Japanese watch

This one is likely to be more than you like to spend, Neil, but you could always make an offer..

I think it's very unlikely to have rubbing/scrubbing on 205/50/17, as the Gen 7 wheel arches are huge. The speedo will be more accurate, but the big trade off will be loss of performance, and maybe tyre flex when cornering, The rolling radius difference between 205/45, and 205/50 is 3.33%, which is substantial.
If it was me, Steve..I'd fit 215/45 all round to maintain acceleration, but that of course doubles the cost.

Be good to see you around again, Andy. I might even recognise you next time
Do you ever just "go out for a drive"?

Always up for a road run. Static car meets bore me to tears.
BTW, is this a 140 only thread?
