Think they're the 4200 if that's what ya meanMassive difference and worth every Penny You've paid for it...
What's the bulb output Myk on them?
The HIDS where fine, just needed adjusting as I'd stripped my headlights down completely have since been fitted and adjusted no problem and the HIDS are with another member as I didn't need them so gave them to him and he's really happy with the light output! But in all fairness MYK, that beam pattern is absolutely terrible on the right XD looks like the after market ones were a bit dodgy to start!
But admittedly, the ones you have now are far superior than after markets
But yeah. The oem ones are a lot better. Shame they weren't offered in the uk though as I think a lot would of went for them!

Cheers. One is on the happy side of quite chuffed.
Everything worked out in the end
Honestly - apart from one or two corporate members on here (like AMS, mondo, slugster and serratia now) stuart is the best guy I've dealt with relating to car parts. Always helpful, always ready to give a hand, looks after parts, and genuinely cares about his product and how he himself makes them.
Really glad you went to him and glad everything has worked out for you and the members who want the spoiler.
As a cheeky hint, stuart may soon have a sports M scoop as well

Spiral cable attached to the airbag Airbag is fine and celica doesnt use the spiral cable as its left in the rav4
-
You dont run hids in side lights....
They'd blind/dazzle oncoming road traffic....

MK2 Rav4, 2000-2005 models.
Jo3 currently has the same one in his car which is what made me want to try it as looked good, so thanks to his advice managed to grab one

What do you do now with bulbs?
Personally I wouldnt have 2 kits. I'd just have one. Chances are if it breaks itll be DOA and not after a few months. After a year buy a new kit as spare. if one bulb goes then replace both incase?

only get dazzling on a none projector headlight - standrard gen 7 ones should be ok
-
I know mine where pointing slightly high but not massively high and was only after I stripped the lights down again. These where the only pics I got before stripping down. There's no way any aftermarket kit can match the brightness because they're the propper housings with different lenses.
Keep an eye out on yahoo Japan as they crop up occasionally! And sometimes at a steal!

The oem ones are massively massively massively better than the aftermarket HIDS. Worked out at £150 for them when I sold my lights. So actually £110 more expensive than aftermarket kits. Is it worth that? I'd say so.A ballast failed on me that was from HIDs-Direct. Could be due to unsecure ballasts in the engine bay though, so I've secured them and haven't had problems since.
Could also have been a one off. Like James7 said, most of them are made in China but it's the issue with quality control.
And as much as I'd like to get OEM HID clusters, I can't justify spending £250 on something that would give you the same light output and look as £40 from HIDs-Direct. Yeah they're built into the light cluster and are OEM, but is that really worth £210 more? That's a lot of money for something that nobody would notice the difference in.
I can see the reason with Gen 6 projectors as they're reflectors as standard. But with the Gen 7? An after market HID kit for £40 with brilliant light output and a very clean install if you undo your bumper... or OEM for £250...
£50 more (£300) and you could get yourself a front GT lip rep and rear valance rep both ready painted for that money. I know which I'd rather spend the money on!
Aftermarket at the top, oem HIDS bottom.... Let's see if you can spot the difference.... I challenge anyone to even compare to get a beam cutoff and brightness like oem HIDS. The things I missed from my mini where the xenons, and the supercharger. I've got one of the two now
They are more expensive than the hid kit. But I do a lot of night driving with being called out at work so to me its more than worth the extra £110

Everyone makes mistakes - just didn't want you ordering the wrong thing! We're all still learning and picking bits up so always best to ask!
-
You won't get xenon bulbs, you need halogen for high beams. Not sure what type to recommend though, Phillips and osram and MTEC are the ones that crop up most often but can't remember which is better (even though I used all of them at some point ). I'm sure someone will recommend some though!
-
I wouldnt recomend the 55w kit - they can run really hot and potentially melth the plastic inside the headlights - if you do go for them just be careful.
also remember hids take a while to warm up, so you will struggle to "flash" people with main beam with this route
-
I'm sure freakyparts do? Not sure how much he charges though but he's normally cheaper than most places!
Cant help with the father though
-
I've not dealt with him but if you're after a set have you tried freakyparts on here?
-
Good choice in the change! And greawt bulbs! You'll probably find they're better than hids with reflectors!
-
Really need projetors to run hids, there's a reason most people hate the older "chavved up" cars that run hids and its because they arent in projector housings and dazzle people... It may brighten up the road for you but I'd take them out and stick with standard bulbs rather than causing other drivers problems.....

Are you just going to paint them with standard paint? I've seen a few people do it on here but just interested!
Powdercoating might give a longer lasting finiish, but would cost a hell of a lot more!
-
I'll take it off your hands if you decide not to
Dont you already have one? or is it the hotchkis?
-
Least it'll be ok in the future!
