  1. My Celica passed its MOT only advisory was needs 2 front tyres, not bad for a 17 year old car
  2. Cheers mate that s a huge help I'm ordering my pas belt tomorrow and hopefully put all your good info to use by the week end! If I get stuck I'll let you know. I'll get some photos up too. Be goof to get this on the wiki for the ST
  3. Folkestone on kent So I undo bolt to loosen/slacken off altinator and undo bolt to remove the pully?
  4. I don't know to be honest, it's a pretty big garage, it's a Suzuki & Kia dealership garage (I know i know) but they do MOT, Servicing etc etc. so I'm guessing they probably used an air line gun to remove them. I didn't pay the £20 to get my rears off as I had ordered my tyres online and paid upfront with fitting. So they can get stuffed if they are getting £20 off me next time I go in, plus another £20 to remove fronts, £40 in total they want from me because they shattered my lock key!
  5. pictures are always good mate, if you wouldn't mind, im going to do this job myself, will the aux belt get tension automatically or do i need to set it at a set tension myself as I don't have a torque wrench.
  6. oh great, not done this before so no idea how to get aux belt off? or how to re-tension it.
  7. silly question, but how do I replace the PAS belt? do other belts need to come off for me to get to the PAS belt?
  8. but should I pay the £20 as after all they broke my locking key
  9. I would spend £18 on a new key, but its only to undo my front wheels. My garage I used to replace my tyres shattered my locking nut key and had to cut the back 2 locking nuts off and tried to charge me £20 extra labour and said they would have to charge me another £20 to cut the front one off next time I come in to get my tyres changed!! So I would have a new locking key for only 2 nuts and would then have to buy a new set to go on the back as well. So I have decided not to bother with new locking nuts and just use standard wheel bolts.
  10. ok cheers, how do I get the socket off the locking nut so I can do the other one?
  11. ok cool thanks, just seen a YouTube video using oversized socket, think that's probably my best bet don't suppose you know what kind of size I should go for?
  12. i'll have to by a socket then as I don't have any big enough to fit. my local garage want £20 for them to remove to locking nuts!!!
  13. I've emailed Mcgard, I think it's £18 for a new key from them. But I'm not putting locking nuts back on ask had to get the rears cut off. The code is 09724 54711
  14. Hi all, long story short. I have lost my locking key for my front alloys and I need to get my front tyres changed as they are on the legal limit. Have any of you lovely people got one of these Mcgard lock nut key, heres the code of the key I need. Looks like this: and heres my Mcgard reg paper which shows the code number 24157SU I only need to borrow it to undo the 2 front ones as I have replacement nuts to go back on. I can pay for recorded delivery to and back to the owner of the key.
  15. Sounds good advice mate, thanks. There is deffinatley no rumble or anyother noise apart from belt squeal, I will replace the belt first and go from there when I looked at the belt, it deffo looks worn since looking at new belts online. I did notice that 1st thing in the morning when its cold and or damp outside, the belt would squeal on start up but very lightly, if I turned on the fans it would cause the belt to squeal more. Obviously not connected in any way, but its causing the altinator to do more work in return slowing the belts down a tad. Going to order new belt and go from there.
  16. can see here how close the Good call thanks! If the pump was on its way out surley it would feel notchy all the time when driving? its only notchy and squealing when 1st started in the morning form cold or when the wheel is turned when the car is statioary.
  17. belt looked ok as far as I could tell, its probably the original !! The fluid reservoir does look very oily and greasy and on the ST the fluid reservoir is right next to the belt, so I guess PAS fluid could have got on the pully/belt.
  18. Right ok, attacked the PAS pump today, really easy to adjust the pumps belt tension. On the ST, their is one single nut right at the top on the pump, loosened that off and the pump pivets on an angle, so I got a long bar and pushed it back so th belt was tighter than before and locked the nut back up, it still squeals!!! when driving, the pump is fine, no squealing when turning etc etc. It does squeal however when im stationary and turning the wheel. e.g.; pulling out of a car park space or stop and then turn into a space. Seems like when there is more resistance on the tyres/wheels the pump squeals, But when driving when there is less resistance on the wheels its fine. It was only me out with the car today and my arms arent long enought o turn the steering wheel and look at the pump and belt at the same time. But when turning from lock to lock at a standstill im sure I could smell a hot rubber smell after its was squealing, like the belt is slipping over the pas pulling causing friction. Basicly do I need a new PAS pump?
