planc
Sounds like the idle speed control could be sticking, have a search for it as I think they may be a few guides or advise.

dinkydootoyou
hi guys...thank you for all your help.unfortunately the problem still exists. ive changed the suspect part infact ive changed the whole cabudle.... see pics..... http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w71/spooky65/IMGP4102.jpg i alway thought that a engine what ever the make and model. ticked over at about 800 revs per minute. but when i start this one it ticks over at a thousand.. then as the engine warms up. it creeps up and up. and today it reaced a tick over speed of 2000 revs per minute...that cannot be right. as anyone ever heard of this happening before. anyone got any ideas as to why this should happen...thank you....mike

Lozmachine
could be that your throttle body is too tight? as in the wire running to the pedal, can be loosened in the engine bay right next to where you can press accelerator? i had that and when loosened worked..
