juicygoolies
My car is due a service soon. I put in Denso Iridium Tough spark plus last September. All seems to be fine, but I was just wondering if plugs are a yearly thing or a mileage thing?
silver gt
You should get several years out of plugs. Take a couple out and check the condition. This is what Toyota say: replace at 18,000 miles (platinum at every 63,000 miles)
juicygoolies
Thought as much! I've only done about 10,000 easy miles since I put them in, but when I get round to servicing it I shall check... What am I looking for?
oilman
With the Iridium tough, you should be looking around 70k in a standard car. I spoke to a guy about a month back who was buying a new set. His last ones lasted 75k, but he took them out and cleaned them once a year. He wasn't convinced he needed new ones, but thought he should as Denso say about 70k with the Iridium Toughs
LiamGTR
What are these 'tough' ones? Any different to the NGJ Iridium IX?

What am I looking for? Assuming the engine is running properly then all you should see is a bit of erosion on the electrode. oilman
Yes, the Denso Iridium Toughs have a thicker layer of iridium than the NGKs, so they last longer. Cheers Tim
