thanks for letting me know about this.

I have relayed your experience to my two mechanic friends at the garage.

The one who worked on the job is fairly expert at brakes both disc and parking drum, he did report that there seemed to be something odd and missing on the new backplate referring to it as not having a cable guide.

I'm not sure what he means but maybe the cable isn't remaining connected properly.

The other guy at the garage is a mechanical engineer, he's going to get his thinking cap on, give it a close scrutiny to see if the issue can be suitably adapted to work.

I should find out one way or another tomorrow.

After two attempts have failed i have my doubts.

Bit of a shocker really, a pair of new and genuine Mr. T backplates plus the labour to fit is a relatively large bill i wasn't expecting 

Do you happen to know the part numbers for the OEM Celica backplates?

I don't feel optimistic about the outcome.

If i feel brave tomorrow i'll phone my local Mr.T to ask how much
