  1. transmitter receiver needs power from the ignition feed (it'll flatten your battery if on the permanent power) the HU needs the right feed to trigger, could be 12V could be 0v check the manual. The transmitter should be powered on the camera's loom, i tend to use the reverse light circuit to do this.

You can manually trigger the reverse wire feed to the headunit using a switch you press.

Thanks for that :) I'll get a camera ordered and see what I can do.

  2. So I had my Double Din Head Unit installed today - Kenwood DDX-3021 (thanks to member Bassline Toad) and it's working great :)

I also bought this Wireless Transmitter so that I can rig up a reversing camera (still not decided which camera to go with yet).

I got the guy fitting the HU to connect up the wireless receiver whist he was at it (just a RCA connection and a +/- power connection), which he did.

But then he said that the HU had a reversing wire that would need connecting up in order to operate the camera/screen, which he didn't do. The HU manual also states "To use a rear view camera, the REVERSE lead connection is required".

But does this just relate to using a designated Kenwood camera??

Before he said this, my understanding was that the wireless transmitter would take it's + & - from the reverse light in the boot and no reverse connection would be required up front which would still enable the camera screen to operate when the reverse gear was selected.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me because I'm now very confused as to whether or not the HU reversing wire need connecting ??

    Thanks in advance

  3. Yeah, I remember mine being odd sizes. Just get the nearest size you can or, in the case of your rear, go for what size you think is best.

I think Toyota make the odd sizes on purpose to make you go to Mr T for replacements. The strategy must work because my uncle went in to get some replacement wipers for his corolla and came out with a brand new car!
