I can see the appeal to JDM fanboys but as said for me and having inquisitive children id rather not have them.
-
With police currently enforcing silly laws very rigidly you could in theory be done for owning a pyrotechnic if they for some reason did a search of your veichle.
Both our cars had them but binned them as imo zero requirement for them and only takes one drunk passenger to cause mayhem.
-
Im getting Ray to do mine in proper carbon like his eventually but its crazy money really.
As john says look at what Hexis can offer - be unique
-
I dont think there is a car currently on sale with worse alloys than the GT86
-
Even with a bodykit and fancy seats though it imo was trying to steal sales in a segment where it was up against far more talented rivals.
As said from my time at a main dealer Toyotas main customer base was from existing owners upgrading - and with the gen 6 and especially the gen 7 we found that the male in the family was usually a successful person who would run a Lexus or Landcruiser and buy a gen 6 GT / gen 7 for his wife.
Its now harder for Toyota to bring in customers as they have not a car in the sports car segment since the MR2 and Celicas demise.
As said im not slating the product as im Toyota through and through but the quality of the modern Toyotas from say 99 on has fallen considerably.
But everyone knows that and the new president seems to be desprate to change that perception by improving this.
I hope that they in time have a similar line up to the hey days of the 90's when the Mr2 and celica were big sellers and then you had the halo model Supra - wether it happens who knows but would be nice
-
Because as you say they always overprice cars - st205 was £30K when impreza was £20k and Escort cossie £25K
The celica cabriolet was £30K - same price as top spec BMW 328 soft tops.
The gen 7 GT was way overpriced compared to the mazda RX8 230 and Nissan 350Z
When i was at Toyota we hardly ever drew in new customers but people who would upgrade from a older car.
Once your in a Toyota you do appreciate how good they are but if they are too expensive in 1st place your not going to sell it
They sell things far too expensive and whilst they might sell a few they will never be a huge sales success - imo its best to price things at a more affordable level and make less profit on each car but more in the long run as you will shift more numbers. But that just me and im not in charge of Toyota UK's pricing policy
-
I know its not - its been designed as a " affordable " fun car.
As usual Toyotas pricing is way off the mark - but for me id spend my money on a porsche cayman.
If this was 3 / 4 years down the line when values plummet like almost all toyota residuals then id not be averse to spending reasonable money on one but no way would i fork out on a new one
-
Like you i too would buy a used cayman S - the 86 is nice dont get me wrong but the porsche - imo anyway - is a special car
-
Why dont you put all the pictures into the same thread ??
looks nice though

Like the recaros in the pics from the Escort RS turbo the cobra seats with a tilt lever will also have a winder but cobra does versions of its seats for cars with 4 doors and no real need for a tilt lever.
Seems silly to me as its making life harder by producing 2 different seat versions.
Shame there isnt 2 of these as they are stunning
-
Sorry Ray my post should have said or a tilt lever - as said Erins Daytonas were manual winder only so reason we moved them on
-
Who cares serves the idiot right for driving around un insured - rather a dead celica than some poor buggers with a wrecked car or worse because some un insured twat crashes into them
-
Ring police saying he bought it and it not insured - they will impound it if they catch him and then crush it
-
Cobra seats wether missano's / sidewinders / daytonas came in both manual recline and with a tilt lever.
Reason i sold Erins daytonas were because they were manual winders.
Id just have the rear seats for extra luggage space and fit non recliners - as i have with mine as im not letting anyone in back unless they are small / slim enough to get past the seat backs and also stops fat people getting a lift
Whilst i agree with the regular recaro speed range of seats these ones are lovely - try and find some out of a wrecked clio / audi / focus rs
-
Does it match my new one ^^ ?
If so I'll take it buddy!
It is white and lights up a nice light blue colour
