    Hope it goes well.

It is really easy to under estimate the labour required to blast all the rust and dirt etc off before covering the underside.

If I was you, I would do it differently if you plan on keeping the car, but that is me.

I would get some spare suspension parts, get them blasted and painted etc, then get a garage to drop the old stuff, get as much of the kit refurbished, and while the underside is stripped, then get it blasted and treated.

    Then re fit etc

Well....... we are sort of on the same page here I think :D

I’m trying to source all the suspension bits before then and will ask them their best price to fit the new...

    Hoping for a discount!!!! :popcorn2:

I’m sure I read that the jdm mirrors aren’t heated?

somebody somewhere on here maybe from Holland years ago converted them to heated glass. Something I’d look into at the same time.

I’ve since purchased replacement glass, apparently they just pop out (get garage to do them) and the glass was cheap, so getting both sides done.

    Thanks for replying though mate.

My fifth gen looks better than that underneath

That price isnt a surprise to me, it certainly would need a lot of prep work

Yeah I’ve asked for clarification because their site suggests going off what they said it should be around £450 max.

    Their reply:

    ”Hi Russ
I've suggested that the site needs some clarification and I believe my colleague who does all that stuff is in the process of recreating the site. The prices are for the treatment when there little to no preparation work required (stage 1 / stage 2) and they go up when there is stage 3 or stage 4 corrosion. Your car is a borderline 4 from the amount of fairly major rust present but there aren't any holes or pitting evident. I am confident (based on experience) that there won't be any when I sandblast / air needle.
In terms of the dates, I can book you for the week commencing 17th February with a courtesy car.
    Any questions please ask
    Regards
    Claire”

Guess.... they need to update their website then!

I’ll have to book her in, just a lot of cash but then if I intend on keeping her long term then needs to be done.

This car will be the death of me  thankfully I love her so much

  4. Update on this.... went to the rustproofing place today and they gave me a free look and quote.

To be honest I’m but unsure about their findings and whether they are chancing their arm to getting as much money out of me as possible or whether it’s a genuine quote.

They said its not the worst but certainly not the best they have seen and it will need a lot of prep to get right. She said it was at stage 4 however on their website stage 4 is proper bad and she said there were no holes or anything like that... so unsure what to think of the quote now.

I was expecting about £350-450 going off their website and she was quoting £750.....

My partner has said to go for it as I intend on keeping the car for many years. But I can’t help but think their chancing their arm to make as much money as they can from it; unless it does actually warrant the cost. I’ve attached pics of my underside and also 2 pics of what it should look like afterwards if I agreed to the work.

  5. My folding mirrors arrived today but one of the mirrors (driver side) seems to have the early start of rust browning I think they call it... it’s not actually rust but I think that’s what they call it, pic attached.

Is there a way to fix this or do I need to buy a new glass or good replacement second hand?

    Thanks

  6. Just taken this out of the front side light... they are working but it’s on its last legs (bottom end of the led is crumbling away.

Any idea what led it is guys so I can buy one?

    Doesn't say anything on it....

(I’ve attached a pic of the other headlight with it in at the moment, for reference)

I warned you about dropping them! Haha!

My work actually had one in stock for some reason cost less than a tenner.

    I know mate hahahaahha

You able to get one for me?

You recommend me taking that thing of it seems to be held on with 2 bolts.... then I could put my hand down there.

  8. Oh well managed to prize them both open but the open actual bulb holder with the old bulb in has dropped the bottom... talk about taking the.

    Any thoughts guys?

Have to source a replacement end bit now or is there a way of getting it out?

Would it be safe to unbolt this... I should hopefully be able to fit my hand down there then?

501s so number plate, front side lights etc.

Thanks mate that’s good to know. 1 of my rear bulbs has actually gone so that’s fab. Good to know they will fit the front side lights too, there’s about 6 in this packet I’ve found, although I fear they are cheap Chinese EBay ones lol
