  1. Thanks for the advice all, think i'll give hammerite smooth a try. Slightly alarmed by how long it takes to dry though, can it really take 48 hours?! It says touch dry in an hour or something on most of the info about it, and i know it's cold at the moment but surely it can't take more than 2-3 hours? It's not essential that i paint them this time round, just figured it'd be easier whilst the discs are off. I've grown quite fond of the idea of nice gloss black calipers... :(

Hammerite dries quicker but that other paint I mentioned deffo took more than 24 hours to dry :/

  2. Thanks for the replies people. :)

I was prob talking poop when I said matte carbon and the pics John has posted is exactly the kind I want.

Whats the ballpark kinda figure I should be paying to get this done?

Can't say I've ever seen a Matte carbon..it's always got a shiny nature to it due to the actual printing process to make the weave apparent. Here's an interior I wrapped a while back anyway

Some mighty fine handiwork I see there. :o

I know a lad who's just started offering hydro graphics mate, I've text to see if he does a matt CF finish & guide prices if it's something you'd be interested in?

Cheers mate, ill hold fire and wait and see, never heard of hydro graphics? What is this trickery??

i do wrapping if ur interested. i did all of ghoulies interior

Ah I see, will let you know kittii, any pics you can put up? :)

Get it dipped, far more classy than wrap :D

Dipped?? Theres only one kind of dipping I do with any of my bits and I dont think thats what you are referring to? :hysterical:

  3. Glad you are ok mate.

I had my drivers side rear tyre blow out at about 120mph on the 'Autobahn' whilst trying to catch a 4.2 Quattro Audi A6 and I hardly noticed, I had 3 passengers and it just felt like a very slight vibration had appeared so I slowed down and pulled onto the hard shoulder and the tyre was flat, when I removed it i could see a large hole on the inside edge. God knows how I didnt go into a spin at that speed just as you did albeit at a much lower speed.

  4. Such a shame.

Apparently alot of the 80's Jap stuff that was in scrap yards up until about 5 years ago was crushed as it was worth more when the scrap metal prices went up. This is why you no longer see cars stacked up to 5 high in scrappys and one of the reasons I had to sell my 1985 Nissan Cherry Turbo, i needed some interior bits and bobs that were discontinued and I couldn't find ANY in the scrap yards, this was the reason I was given :(
