Cheers Foogles, looking back through the thread it does seam right, when I put it into the unit it seemed to want to half fit on the top side and a bit wide on the bottom, I think maybe I just need to twist it to stop it falling at an angle

Hey all,
Ger thanks for a great write up! Looking at ordering that kit you linked a few posts above, is that the 55w kit you say you are now running with?
One other question regarding bulb holders, the bulb holders on the front page are no longer available, I can see some similar but wanted to check if anyone has bought some recently. Im wanting do this in the next week or so, so UK stock the better
Cheers,
Danny

I have been on the lookout for another set of tech 5 to get sprayed in anthracite but have yet to come a cross a half decent set. That would be the only thing I would rather do than go to 18 tbh. If u know anyone selling let me know haha [emoji14]

Oh dear.. Went out to the car this aft and noticed some marks on the rear passenger wheel.. Curb damage, pretty significant around the edge and also on front face parts that stick out slightly. Did a walk around all 4 have this! I have heard how soft these tech 5's are and its left some nice damage.
I only cleaned the car at the start of the month and it was fine. I cannot for the life of me think where I have done this and certainly don't remember parking near any curbs in a long time.
Now I need to get them repaired as I dont want them degrading to the point of no return.. Think I will have to bite the bullet and get the 18's then store these till later in the year for repairs.

Sound idea Kev but unfortunatly due to my age I cannot get insurance to cover my driving other people vehicles. I would not risk driving someone else without cover.
On that note someone would be nuts to put it in my hands I cringed at the idea of someone else driving mine lol
Maybe have to put this to bed for a week or two and give it more thought. Or pick up a cheap set of used 18's on fleabay to get an idea of the feel..
Thanks everyone for your input!

Rim style can do me the Yokohama Bluearth Ace Ae50 at 75 a corner. Really tempted but with this tyre rating system (fuel, wet perfomance and noise) am i going about this the wrong way? I have to assume that there must be a trade off to get those high ratings. Should i be worried that these wont be up to the job.. I enjoy a spirited drive and like to throw it around the country roads where I live...
Sorry for so many questions, in the past I have always gone budget with my previous cars
Edit: Thanks for reply Yorkie!
Oh and if anyone is interested these are what Rimstyle have to offer (had to put in a VW golf to get it give me the tyre size lol)
-
Cool, dont think thats going to be a really noticeable difference to the look in that case
-
Maybe you can help me Skiny and make sure im reading this right
I put in 225/35/18 and 8.0/35 for the 18s as the existing setup then put in the same but with the 40 profile in the new setup to figure out how much extra tyre wall is there in mm...
The site output Ride hight gain and Arch gap loss at 11.25 mm. so in theory that means that its gain about 5.62mm of width....
Is that right!!! This isnt my strong suit
Cheers

Bril thanks Skiny!
-
Thanks Ams, Seen these Yokohama's on black circles the rating for Fuel and Wet performance seem really good for the money.
-
Its always appreciated mate!
Think I am swaying to the Falkens as im impressed with the ones im running now and they seem to be a good price.
-
As car speedo's read fast, fitting the larger rolling radius 225/40/18's, would actually make the speedo more accurate
Haha brilliant!
Cheers Spectre & Liam, mmmmm that would be a deal breaker for me, need something that will wear well.
Did look at those Liam as they are cheap, but the wet weather rating put me off a little. Do they handle the wet well?
-
Thanks kev, I am going to be keeping my Tech 5's for winter and long distance so these will be a Summer/Show wheel.
Regarding the 40 sidewall this would knock my speedometer reading out by a couple of miles im guessing?

I know that for a lot of people they will not like this but have decided I want some 18's on my Gen 7. All comes down to personal choice and I except the reduced comfort and other associated effects.
Unfortunately I am not well versed in Tyres and am looking for any advice regarding a decent set to fit Wolf Race Asia-Tec JDM's that im thinking of getting. The size I need is 225/35/R18
To save time and effort im looking to get them from Rimsytyle and if the tyres are up to the job get the set from them ready to fit. My budget for the tyres is around £100 a corner, I want something that isnt going to scare the s@@t out of me when im driving
Two set I have seen on there that I like the look of are Falken Azensis FK453 & Toyo Proxes T1 Sport.
Is anyone running these at the moment? Or am I missing some better options? I will say the budget can go up a bit if there is a big jump in performance.
Cheers!

Edit: next thing is you will look at it once you drop it down and start thinking maybe just a little lower lol
