Had this with mine, have you tried putting some electrical/duct tape on the boot catch? This largely solved the issue on mine.

I'm very happy with my gen7 aside from the bloody creaky and rattly boot/boot trim and not being able to find the cause...checked everything in the boot!.

gt86 definitely needs a turbo, I was working for toyota last year and got a chance to drive both auto and manual gt86' and I was very disappointed, they do feel slow imo and I did feel like I was in a heavy car. Never driven a type r, but have always been a fan after being a passanger in an fn2 its put me off although iv'e always preferred the ep3, definitely wouldn't turn down a go in an integra type r either, but very impressed and happy with my T sport at the mo .
