New tyres should be going on the back anyway
-
It sure is. I just found the picture on my phone, I took it just before I took the wheels off for painting -
Before (yuck )
After

Took today of to do my brake calipers but all its done is rain. At least I got my caps done, one less thing to do. Here's the finished product, really pleased with the result and mooks graphics are spot on.
Looking good
It's amazing what a nice looking centre cap does for the wheels. I was looking at an old picture of my wheels yesterday and they really did look dreadful with the scratched up caps and kerbed alloys.
-
My front bumper is littered with cracks. At first it really bugged me but I've learnt to live with them. You cant see them until you get up close. If it passes the 6ft test then its not worth me spending hundreds I dont have fixing the paintwork.

Go onto the Weight Watchers website & use the "Find a Weight Watchers meeting near you" function. Pour oil around entrance to said venue, sit back & let laughter ensue
Surely that would just add to the nations pothole problems?

I got some green tea with mine!
-
Out of interest, does anyone have any pics of them fitted, I've done a few for club members but not seen them fitted
Here are the ones you did for me

The one tip i would note is to sand them down as much as you can, the raise TSport logo is a pain to stick a decal on top of.
And dont forget some clear lacquer on top before refitting.

I've done 7000miles on my Rainsport 3's and, as rich_p will tell you as he saw them the other week, they still look pretty damn new.
Plus they really are impressive in the wet. Driving back from Middlesbrough today in the rain/sleet and the tyres just cut through any standing water. Hitting lift in the wet isn't an issue either, I cant recommend them enough, especially when they can be had for £60ish.
If I had one complaint it would be that the tread pattern around wall of the tyre isn't very 'sporty' looking but that's just nitpicking...
Edit -
Looking at that picture again I think the tread pattern would look a lot less noticeable if it wasn't for the muddy track I'm forced to drive down to get to my garage. My tyres never look clean

2.7l seems to be the answer
What oil is everyone else using? Redline MT90 seems popular but comes to about £50 for 3 bottles and I was hoping for something not quite so expensive....
-
I've found a lot of conflicting info about what gearbox oil to use and how much is actually needed for a change. Does anyone know?
-
Get these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170789221887?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT there awesome for the price
I have these. Very good, especially for £5.

Parking facing downhill in a Gen 7 will make the petrol gauge display that you've got less petrol than what you actually have so you probably have got plenty of petrol so I could possibly rule that out.
-
I've done about 6k miles on mine and the tread still looks practically new
-
I would say there is some truth in it. There's a big hill on my way home from work and if I take my foot off the accelerator it'll happily roll down the hill at about 60mph. Before I had the Rainsports fitted it seemed to only roll down at 50ish when it had Hankooks on...

Just thought id share this as I know now and again there is someone on here who believes that HID's will fail an MOT -
I had my MOT yesterday and just before the tester finished the test someone from VOSA turned up and they had to retest the car to make sure it matched the results of the tester. It passed without a problem.
So yeah, a guy from VOSA passed my HID fitted Gen 7 so for those who worry about it failing please don't
-
Awesome
Fingers crossed there wont be any fails as lowering & spacers will be happening after Xmas if it gets through ok
-
As long as it wont be an MOT fail I'll sort it at a later date. Work is so busy in the lead up the Xmas that daylight hours to tinker with the car are few and far between and with its MOT next week I needed to find the time to sort it did need doing
-
Question - one of my headlights have one of these UFO's that I've heard mentioned. Will this fail an MOT? How can I fix it?
-
Thanks for the replies guys, looks like a cheap spray job will suffice

I recently purchased a set of springs & dampers for my Gen7 from a club member who was breaking his old car. The springs look a little worse for wear cosmetically, is it possible to give the springs a fresh lick of paint? Or will the paint just flake off with all the compressing a spring does over time?
If it is possible what sort of paint would be recommended?
Cheers
Note - feel free to move this thread if it would be better suited to another forum, I wasn't sure quite where to put it.

Thanks for the advice I think I'll stick with what I have and go with the Shell Helix again. 5l for £30 seems good to me, I'll stick an order in with you after Xmas
-
I'm intending to change my oil soon and was wondering what to use. I've currently got 5w40 Fully Synth Shell Helix of which the dipstick reads the same as it did when it went in a year ago so its burning very little if at all. Prices are a bit better if I went with 5w30 or should I stick with what I am using?
My Gen7 is a 51reg TSport with 150k on the clock and I live in the north east so it needs protection from the cold
-
Putting the cans into a bucket of boiling water for a few minutes before use is advised with Plastidip but I personally wouldn't do any spraying this time of year. I've put all of my painting plans on hold until after Easter at least...
Anyone colour coded the rear light cluster trim to their car?

Looks really good actually, it somewhat modernizes the back end of the car. Go for it.
