  1. 235 is a lot for a 7.5" wide wheel.

I'm on 225 on 9J.. but it's awful. I will be using 245 asap. So yeah, if 245 is a comfortable medium for 9J, 235 is too much for 7.5! I used 215/45/17 on my 7.5J FOX alloys on all 4 and it was beautifully agile, Toyo Proxes T1R fronts, Proxes4 rears.. I'm sure you'd be happy with other tires, more expensive or cheaper - having the right width and profile is far more important for feel.

I had 205/45 on a 9j wheel and it felt a bit ropey when you gave it some in the corners.

I have now changed wheels and have 215/45/17 on 9j and it handles like a dream. Took it round some twistys with my mates on the way back from Japshow last Sunday and it felt like it was on rails, love it now!

  2. If it is mint with that mileage, it is probably the right price.

But would you pay 8k? Can pick one up for around 4k, and with the spare 4k you could get a top paint job if it really needed it, with plenty of change, and even if it was on high miles the engines are pretty much bulletproof so no worries there.

  3. I don't get the whole stanced / OTT camber look. Looks broken.

Looks good to me. Different tastes or it would be a boring world. A lot of work goes into getting a car sitting that pretty, one of best looking gen 7 imo. Oh and that is not a lot of camber.

  4. Generally those cars are terrible. Don't care what Jaguar says, those x types are just glorified mondeos except they still feel like cheap tat, drive them all the time unfortunately have to fix them too.

Normally have to replace all the auxcillary idlers and tensioner on the diesels which is a pig of a job on those, more room on the mondeo..

  5. I normally give mine a good hose down in and behind the rear arches when I wash the car so hopefully that gets the crap out.. Key is catching it early and then preventing it.

I mot'd a jaguar x type which had skirts fitted, luckily there is about a 1-2inch gap between the sill and the skirt and I found a hole. Failed the car, got go ahead on repair explaining it could be worse once side skirt was removed, removed it and underneath was rotten. Need the whole sill re-building.

  6. I get looks all the time, especially when my dished wheels are on in the summer. I have a decat exhaust as well which on the overrun if you tap the throttle can bang out the back something nasty, scares me sometimes when I get a real gooden, but I am childish.. :D

  7. I am now a bigger dipstick. :P:P :P

I work on cars daily and trust me some of them you might as well fill them up through the bloody dipstick lol. Some manufacturers have designed them so badly or put like a plate blocking oil from going in apart from a tiny gap meaning you have to dribble it in, most frustrating thing in the world :D

  8. My 2001 Astra turbo had more toys than the Celica. I love the basicness. I spend all day fixing useless crap on other cars I don't want the headache of fixing my own car. Hence buying a Toyota.

Agreed. I had a 2001 astra before my celica and the only feature I really miss was the auto windows still went up after taking the key out and I didn't have to wait lol.

Volkswagen are the worst for fixing the useless crap. I work in a garage and I call BS on volkswagen (German quality). 90% of what I fix is VW/Audi/BMW. Does my head in as well because most of their design is utter rubbish.

  9. ...and WE have fed them, the ungrateful little barstewards.

^ That be the problem then, wtf are you feeding them ?

We had a bird at work once who would perch in the same tree and leave massive purple ones with large seeds everywhere. I don't envy him.. (Obviously my car went no where near that tree!)

Also mine is covered in sand as well.. Not happy lol

  10. Hi what oil would you suggest for my 2005 GT vvtli Celica? I do short journeys to work consisting of about 3-4 miles and in that time the car just about gets to running temp. Been currently using Triple QX 5w/40 but would like something a bit better if possible and more protective?

Also a good gear oil if possible? I know it is 75/90 but what brand would you recommend?
