These will be going on 9j wheels
-
Cool thanks It is what will be going on my winter wheels
-
Quick question.. I have checked on a few site calculators etc.. and according to those 215/45 is closest to 205/45 than 215/40. Is this what people generally jump to on the standard wheels?
-
If it is mint with that mileage, it is probably the right price.
But would you pay 8k? Can pick one up for around 4k, and with the spare 4k you could get a top paint job if it really needed it, with plenty of change, and even if it was on high miles the engines are pretty much bulletproof so no worries there.

I still prefer the thunder grey over any colour, so subtle but so sleek with the lines at the glitter in the sun...
-
I don't get the whole stanced / OTT camber look. Looks broken.
Looks good to me. Different tastes or it would be a boring world. A lot of work goes into getting a car sitting that pretty, one of best looking gen 7 imo. Oh and that is not a lot of camber.

Generally those cars are terrible. Don't care what Jaguar says, those x types are just glorified mondeos except they still feel like cheap tat, drive them all the time unfortunately have to fix them too.
Normally have to replace all the auxcillary idlers and tensioner on the diesels which is a pig of a job on those, more room on the mondeo.. -
I normally give mine a good hose down in and behind the rear arches when I wash the car so hopefully that gets the crap out.. Key is catching it early and then preventing it.
I mot'd a jaguar x type which had skirts fitted, luckily there is about a 1-2inch gap between the sill and the skirt and I found a hole. Failed the car, got go ahead on repair explaining it could be worse once side skirt was removed, removed it and underneath was rotten. Need the whole sill re-building.- 1

I get looks all the time, especially when my dished wheels are on in the summer. I have a decat exhaust as well which on the overrun if you tap the throttle can bang out the back something nasty, scares me sometimes when I get a real gooden, but I am childish..
-
Ah cool, is there universal brackets supplied or will it need much modifying to fit a standard gen7 rear bumper?
-
What do the diffusers look like?
-
Yeah but that is automatics and most of those I have filled up through the gearbox aren't too bad and they take it quite quickly
-
I am now a bigger dipstick. :P
I work on cars daily and trust me some of them you might as well fill them up through the bloody dipstick lol. Some manufacturers have designed them so badly or put like a plate blocking oil from going in apart from a tiny gap meaning you have to dribble it in, most frustrating thing in the world
-
If you are still unsure and have no idea what to do, take it to a mechanic or someone that does, don't mean to be rude but brakes are not something you should mess with if you are not sure.
If the springs clips holding the shoes have become weak or snapped, they can cause the shoes to catch the disc etc, mine did so I replaced the fitting kit. -
My 2001 Astra turbo had more toys than the Celica. I love the basicness. I spend all day fixing useless crap on other cars I don't want the headache of fixing my own car. Hence buying a Toyota.
Agreed. I had a 2001 astra before my celica and the only feature I really miss was the auto windows still went up after taking the key out and I didn't have to wait lol.
Volkswagen are the worst for fixing the useless crap. I work in a garage and I call BS on volkswagen (German quality). 90% of what I fix is VW/Audi/BMW. Does my head in as well because most of their design is utter rubbish.

Got my japfest ticket too. Will be hidden in the Yaris club again with my mate from work in his Soarer
-
...and WE have fed them, the ungrateful little barstewards.
^ That be the problem then, wtf are you feeding them ?
We had a bird at work once who would perch in the same tree and leave massive purple ones with large seeds everywhere. I don't envy him.. (Obviously my car went no where near that tree!)
Also mine is covered in sand as well.. Not happy lol
-
Thanks for advise guys Can't wait to get it on. Been looking for one for ages and last I saw went for around £200
-
autosol polish mate , you cant beat it and that will bring that up pretty good
Best way to use mate? Can be done by hand and what with?
-
Manged to get this for a total of £60, very happy! Anyone got any recommendations for cleaning up the tips and the middle box back to shiny shiny? I have high temp black paint for the other bits
-
Hi what oil would you suggest for my 2005 GT vvtli Celica? I do short journeys to work consisting of about 3-4 miles and in that time the car just about gets to running temp. Been currently using Triple QX 5w/40 but would like something a bit better if possible and more protective?
Also a good gear oil if possible? I know it is 75/90 but what brand would you recommend? -
Taking the bulb out for ABS will not pass. The ABS light has to illuminate if the vehicle has ABS present, which the MOT tester should be able to see via senors/pick ups or even a pump.

Mine was the same when coming out, real tight and felt like it was going to strip the threads. So i worked it back and forth and eased it out. Once out I just copper greased the bolt and wound it in, went in perfect.
As above, it just accumulates crap. -
I was thinking about this one;
http://www.sgs-engineering.com/hydraulic-jacks/trolley-jacks/tj3lp-low-profile-garage-trolley-jack
Why does it say product weight 44.5kg? That sounds really heavy, the jacks I use at work are definitely not that heavy!
EDIT: Nvm It isn't aluminium
Anyone on 235/45/17s?

I had 205/45 on a 9j wheel and it felt a bit ropey when you gave it some in the corners.
I have now changed wheels and have 215/45/17 on 9j and it handles like a dream. Took it round some twistys with my mates on the way back from Japshow last Sunday and it felt like it was on rails, love it now!
