As Cravo says it's less noticeable in higher gears, almost not there in 6th..... I'm told
Lift in 1st however is for winners!
Same RPM in all gears.

There's Paul Woods of Woodsport in Durham, by all accounts a massive Toyota fanatic and currently transplanting a V6 into a Gen7.
http://www.celica-club.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/173560-gen-7-rx300-vvti-v6-conversion/
As you say the car is a T sport, is the problem anything to with Lift not kicking in as it should? There a couple of things that can be looked at without too much trouble if it is.
Cheapest is cleaning the oil control valve and filter,

Early lift bolts have been known to break but are reportedly an easy change, although it is most common in prefacellift (2003) models

As Kev has asked though what sort of issues are you getting? It may in fact be more general engine trouble caused by MAF sensor, ignition system etc. Do you have any warning lights on the dash?
-
As you say obviously excess negative camber causing inside wear. Are you lowered at all?
Uneven wear could possibly indicate a buckled wheel, do you suffer vibration at speed or under braking?
First thing I'd have done is a decent 4 wheel alignment, and go from there.

I was thinking the same, something about the super slick, shiny glow everything has that just doesn't quite seem real.
It has a copyright to s tuning group so they could be worth a Google ;-)
It is a great looking celica though!
-
Depends on the look your wanting. Your current set stand out and give the car that 'modified' look.
Gen 7 16's look very nice and oem+ on the older gens, just as long as the rest of the car remains subtle.
-
Cheer up,
Don't be feeling so blue about it all ;-)

GT seats VS coloured in stitching God loves a trier.
...meh, never been a big fan of alcantara, though I see they're a lot less slippery, I'll take my leathers for day to day driving
-
Would save a lot vs a pair of GT seats, keep full leather and the T sport logo, could be just the thing for your interior plans!
You do right in a trial run first, but looks promising, just as long as any over spill can be wiped off easily enough (which it should from vinyl/ leathers )
Nice find!

One 'advantage' to using v power on a regular basis.
it's double points over standard fuel and will occasionally by on promotion to triple, it soon adds up!

Really surprised to see this People have been using and recommending Apex on here long before I joined and I've never heard reports of them breaking.
Hopefully Apex and the Ebay seller come through and you get it replaced relatively quick and easily.
The rubbing could possibly be the spring turning as it will no longer be seated properly in the strut, If were me i'd seriously limit mileage (take the car off the road altogether if possible) and look at swapping back to standard spring in the meantime to stay roadworthy if your confident you can do the work yourself and still have parts available.

£2.42/ litre???
I don't mind paying a few extra quid for the debateable benefits (and extra loyalty points) of v-power, but doubt any petrol is worth double the price of normal stuff.
-
Various combinations in this thread,
As stated above 215/45/17 is s popular choice, but I would highly recommend some lowering too to counteract the increase in ride height caused by the taller tyres. You'll look like a 4x4 otherwise.
-
Same predicament here! In the past week I've washed, two stage G3 treatment, window waxed, tyre dressed, plastX etc on both the girlfriends Fiesta and my Celica, only to return from a few days working down south to both cars covered in sand
Club meet tomorrow as well so I'll need to do mine again, and hope for the best today!
Not cool

Ah very deceiving pictures then, sounds a lot worse than they show. Sounds like your at least getting fairer valuations back, I naturally expect insurers to start at rock bottom and chance their luck.
I see the reasoning behind the tin top, and naturally so do the Japanese, as most T-bars are autos with tin tops being for the 'drivers' with manual boxes. I like to pose and drive at the same time, haha!
-
Yours is barely scratched! Is it just the bumper?
It may be too late but the best course of action to me would simply be to source another bumper and switch them over, and then decide if you've lost interest in the car and sell on or keep it knowing it's been sorted out without getting a write off mark against it. Obviously keep a few photos of damage and repair in the interest of honesty with prospective buyers.
It's a sad fact that because the repair co will be wrongly valuing your car at around £1500, and will only quote for brand new original parts from toyota, plus whatever they charge for painting and blending to adjacent panels, it easy to see how so little can cause a 'write off' situation.
Going off topic a little, I'd have to go for a manual beams t-bar if I ever had another MR2, ultra rare though.
-
Glad you walked away from that one, it does sound and look particularly nasty. So lucky too with s boot full of car parts too!
Crazy insurance quotes for another 140 celica, how do they stack up against the MR2 on comparison sites? I'd have thought the celica would be cheaper as its a lower group, with the 190's being the same as an MR2.
As an ex MK2 mr2 owner i can say they're a great car, and I'd get another one if the right one came up at the right time. Built the same era as the Gen6, lovely solid cabin, much fewer rattles than the 7. The 3S-GE is a cracking engine and certainly whet my appetite for high, N/A revs. Can't beat hearing the engine right behind your head either!
They make a very good tourer too, I never had any issues with boot space and the cabin is very isolated from road noise.
The handling was a learning curve for me, they reward smooth inputs, and can bite if your not careful, but overall it's s good chassis, offering good feedback and driving 'feel'. Tyres however are very important, I ran Toyo T1R's successfully in Sun, rain and snow, but it was nearly undriveable on the mixed brands it started out on.
Happy hunting!

You may need to replace the roll bar drop links, depending on wether or not they come off easily. I'd have some ready to be on the safe side, you can always get them refunded if you don't need them.
I'd expect squeeling noise to be a belt first and foremost, has to be a cheaper replacement than the actual pump too so worth doing that first to eliminate it.

A hydraulic crush bend is exactly as it sounds, you'd notice the pipe have a smaller diameter on each bend, obviously causing restriction.
Mandrel is much cleaner and bends remain uniform. As stated well worth paying for, more so if boosted.
-
I've read a few reviews on this, not many to found in all fairness, and remain sceptical.
There are a couple claiming great effect, others say marginal, and others non at all.
My opinion after reading is that it may help with an otherwise neglected engine, but if you know your engine has been taken care of it may be money best spent elsewhere.
For example, the first most positive scenario I read involved an older, turbo'd Vauxhall, on the day of terraclean, the garage also repaired a radiator hose which had worked itself loose, and loose turbo wastegate hose, ending a 'months old' problem, both of which are indicative of poor maintainance in my eyes.

Watchig that video, it's easy to look at my gen 7 and wonder where it all went wrong. At the very least we inherited the screaming twin-cam engine
Much respect to rally drivers, these are cars are designed not to like being driven in straight lines, and it really shows in that video.

Gutted to hear it mate hopefully the seller sends out replacenent pair without any hassle.
It bugs me how little quality control there seems to be with led bulbs, there's just no consistency in so many products, even when you think a good one has been found.

Thoroughly entertaining!!

I suspect the wheels will in fact be advan avs model 6 ;-)
http://www.elitejdm.com/productimages/Wheels/17_Inch_Wheels/00499_1.jpg
Very similar to they dynamic pack wheels though, which ive said before are my favourite toyota wheel.
I guess once a car is so damaged its better to see it broke rather than simply scrapped, those TRD bits and pieces will be brightening some else's car before long.
celica GT vs GT86
in General Celica Discussion
Posted
I'd love a gt86 if I had play money afterwards, which sadly isn't happening anytime soon.
http://www.litchfieldimports.co.uk/Toyota/BRZ-GT86-SPEC-S
The big mod being at the bottom of that page but even the basic wheels suspension and lighting mods would need to be done too.
Aero versions are nice but I find the spoiler very much overkill for a relatively low powered car, all a bit too shouty for me, the rest of its kit and wheels are a big plus though.
Looking at cars currently for sale, I'm in love with the leather from the TRD and Giallo editions, but it's hard to find in the other models. It'll be interesting to see what other special editions come over the models lifespan.
