  1. All V-Power in the UK is 99 RON, same as momentum.  I don't buy (excuse the pun) the 'supermarket fuel is worse' line, either will be fine.  You may or may not get a bit more performance on a UK car, but it's still worth running for a bit of added protection and the cleaning elements, if your wallet is deep enough.  I have to be honest when I say I just run Shell 95 RON in my old hack though.

The only higher RON V-Power in Europe is V-Power Racing at 100 RON.

UK site but a US product and US blurb....so dunno.  If it's actually the one pictured (rather than it being a stock photo) then it's missing the smog pump inlet, although not a huge problem to blank or vent that.

  3. I think it's just one of those cars you have to rev the nuts off if you want to extract the performance.  If you're waiting and waiting for lift to come in in 4th for an overtake, you'll probably have to go down another gear.  The gear ratio's are not well suited for A-road UK stuff and of course have the well-publicised issue with dropping you out of lift when shifting through.

Plugs will be a good start as they'll likely be originals on 50k.  Coils are actually very stout and not renowned for breaking down like other marques.  I would leave alone unless you start having an actual misfire.

Again, and I don't mean to do diminish your enthusiasm for modding, but exhaust mods don't see great gains on 190's.  The stock manifold & exhaust is pretty optimized.  Sports cat would maybe give a little more off-cam torque, but then you have CEL's, MOT's etc to worry about.  Not sure about the DC manifold - are you sure it's compatible with RHD cars?  The only other one people go for is the PPE, which can fatigue badly.  A back box will give you a nice illusion of more power by being louder :D  Though you do lose a good few kg by replacing the stocker.

Denso did have a reputation of the tips breaking off their plugs.  Whether this was a bad batch or internet hearsay, I dunno, but as a consequence I stick with NGK.

If you are set on modding then look at handling/brakes/LSD for measurable gains.

  4. TRD are just rebranded Denso IIRC, definitely not worth the TRD tax.

    NGK BKR7EIX @ £25.20 delivered for 4 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-NGK-IRIDIUM-SPARK-PLUGS-BKR7EIX-Alternative-to-IFR7G-11KS-Laser-Iridiums-/182486688267

The grade is how cold they run, 7 is one grade colder than standard, and 0.8mm is a good gap for a high-revving engine.  They come pre-gapped (you shouldn't re-gap iridium or platinum-tipped plugs)

You won't solve the 'lull' before lift by changing the plugs, it's just how 190's run, as standard.  I reckon Toyota did it to make lift more pronounced.  Having said that, my T-Sport is less pronounced than my pre-face 190/T-Sport badged car.

  5. Personally I would make it so you can interchange your high beam and cold air intake without having to remove the bumper, for the sake of the MOT. If you get a spare headlight for pennies you can cut the tabs off and then just jam it in the hole with a few cable ties. As long as it aimed the same as the other it should be a pass.

    Cheers,

    Jon
