I used underseal on the bottom, inside of doors and rear quaters. Cloud 9 underlay on the idside under roof lining, carpet and panels. Silent and no rattles!
-
Last bill was £2700 just on maintance
£3500 for the car in early 2010 (ST205)
As said last big maintanece bill £2700
Other bits and bobs id say another £3000

Im fast approching year 5 on my GT-four. Best car ive owned. So many 7s on here!
-
I thought that with the van but ill leave it. Crazy how far that sand has come
-
Will be about for the next couple of days apparently. Van was coverd this morning

Did you use just the plastidip or put the glossifier over the top too?
The idea of plastidip (as its so cheap) would be to do a color change when it looks poo
-
What about Plastidip? Used it before but not on anything that size!
-
Its garaged and still gets washed and waxed weekly
-
My GT-four is garaged but had a few cars sit around for months. I park in gear, hand brake off. They rust up, i start up and after a couple of laps round the block on and off the brakes its gone
-
Respray im looking at around £2500+ as i want to get the carbon fibre sprayed as well. Wrap in any colour looking at around £600

The time has come where ive got the GT4 110% mechanically sound and i all the mods on it that ive always wanted. The very last thing on the list is the body work. Theres no rust but its 20 years old and not perfect. Lots of people have commented on how tidy it is but as the owner i know of every single imperfection. Its a bit ocd but im sure a few on here can relate to that.
Im now thinking of getting a full re-spray. Now im not normally a fan of the wraps. Carbon look wrap bonnets are very tacky in my opinion! My thinking is for the price of a respray i could have 3 or 4 colour changes for that kind of money. The whole car wrapped in one colour would look good i think.
Opinions? How are people with full body wraps getting on with then?

He covers a small local area to me. Didnt ask how old the car was or even what model it is. He called and ask to send a picture so i sent him that one of the chip and wasnt interested

I looked into a Chipsaway franchise,it was only the outlay for the franchise itself that put me off in the end,I spent a day at their HQ and tried out their paint system, also did a few days out on the road with a couple of local-ish guys to get a feel of whats involved.
To be fair, they don't tend to just give a franchise to any old monkey who fancies it.Its bloody hard work, doing a good job on someones drive is harder than you think.the guys i went with were very good but having said that im sure due to human nature there are some that arent quite as good.Silver is one of the worst smart repair colours to tackle,if its right in the middle of a panel, and its deep, its hard to get it looking 100% for sure. This guy does sound a bit vague though TBH.
Yeah i have a small scuff that i wanted doing. Just on the very corrner of the back bumper. Hardly anything but i know its there. Hes not interested in doing anything. Ill bite the bullet and get it all done at once at the body shop

Going to get a quote tommorw afternoon. Bonnet will be a bit more than £150 i reckon as its carbon. Will need preping and sealing on top of the rest of it. That chip is 5p sized so wont be alot to do i reckon. With what i want done im also going to get a quote for a full respray to weigh up my options as theres a couple of imperfections i want to get rid of.
I know the guy and 2 of my friends have had perfect work done by him before so ive seen what he can do. Dubs suggested the other people and they want to see it. Not one has asked for a picture! Another reason to avoid the chips away guy here!!
-
What im going to do is get it booked in at a body shop to get the carbon fibre bonnet sprayed in silver and get a couple of chips done at the same time. Still annoyed at myself!
-
Thats not a bad shout. Wouldn't of thought of that. I'll ask Tommorw, this chip away guy is one to avoid. Ran for the hills when i said it was silver!
-
Yeah the idea of these company's is to deal with minor chips and scuffs. Pretty much like that!^
Ill give the other lot ago before the body shop gets a call
-
This is the picture i sent him and he reckons it cant be done. This chips away guy cant make my chip go away.
Am i very mistaken or is that a chip?!...
Cheers best give this mob ago. The other guy clearly isnt interested

First impressions of them arnt great. He called this afternoon and wanted me to text pictures over to him insted of looking at it. I said to him its best to come and see it as id like a couple of bits done. Anyway. Alot of text messages to him and he said it needs to be done at a body shop. Now correct me if im wrong with a name like chips away i would of thought they could fix a chip?
-
I see. Yeah ill be asking how long hes been at it

Im so p@@53d off tonight. I was in my garage where my GT4 lives and i knocked into a shelf unit knocking a tin of brake cleaner off. Falls off the shelf straight on to the rear quater, denting it and chipping the paint down to the primer.
Any one used Chips away, thinking of getting them out on this one -
Gt4 is probably one of the strongest performance cars I have owned. Over 164k on the clock and the only thing stopping me ragging it is the fuel bills
Amen! And get some over time in for some more boost lol
-
A lot of talk seems to be making it sound like the GT4 is fragile? Over 4 years of owner ship the only thing ive needed to replace is a starter motor and a set of tyres. All the other work ive done has been unnessasary. As said if its alot if start stop driving it may not be the best with the four wheel drive etc
Motor ways A and B roads, country winding roads are fun. Go for it. Yes its older but theres alot of fresh imports come over sub 40k. Yes its older but id say they are build 100times better than a 7. Like Dubs said most faults come with people modding them. Start going over 300hp and of course things will break and wear out quicker. DO IT!

Mines been sweet as! Maybe you should take one for a long test drive and ask your self could you drive this as a daily? Paddle clutch (if fitted) heavyer in taffic, exhaust noise etc etc
You will have alot of fun in it going from your current Celica to a GT-four, i'll put money on that!

Ok ok. I know this topic has been done before. The time has come to get some new shoes on the ST205. Currently ive been running GoodYear Egle F1 all round. Great tyres. Should i go the same or is there any recommendations. Needs to be for "fast road" use. The GT-four is sat up in a garage and comes out to play on weekends. Track days seem to be happening more and more, Brands Hatchis booked for next month. I not looking for R888's or anything like that as the cars other use is long journeys, being as its not a daily it gets used for going away in too.
What you using or recommend?
