  1. Well I ordered some hids on the advice of Gerriant who even offered to send me his spare set to try for a week. What a real gent and a kind gesture. Thanks GT! I decided to just bite the bullet and order a set. Hopefully they will be here tomorrow. I've got the adaptors so hopefully I will be able to see the road properly by Saturday night time!

  2. Yeah I used ngk iridium and can't fault them. I think either ngk or dense will be fine. I don't expect you will notice massive difference unless yours are worn.

Engine oil I have always used fuchs titan 5w40. I really like this stuff as when I'm driving the car hard it gives me peace of mind knowing I've got one of the best quality oils in there.

I just used a blueprint oil filter. I like their parts they all seem really high quality.

Gear oil I was never a big advocate of changing because it lasts years but on my last car a Civic Type R 3rd gear is notoriously strange/awkward to engage at times. I was recommended redline gear oil and it fixed the 3rd gear problem immediately. I was so impressed that i changed the gear oil in my GT when I got it using redline mt90. It didn't make a massive difference at first but after a couple of hundred miles the gears went much smoother going in. Must of took a while to coat all the internals properly with the new stuff. I highly recommend the redline oil.

  3. +1 for the Osram NB 110. All four of mine are. superb light but they do give up annually. Don't care though as they light output on a 7 is fantastic and I do a lot of country night driving. Also have them fitted in my RAV4. The MX-5 is running MTEC though but very seldom out in the dark but they are also good.

Yep deffo no complaints about the light output. They do what they say on the box if you can live with the short life. Only since being forced back to the standard bulbs have I really noticed the difference. It really is like night and day difference.
  4. Well ive been phoning hids direct all day. After a few bad reports of their products and their refusal to answer the phone I'm going to look elsewhere. What sort of business can afford to just ignore phone calls all day ill never know. It just doesn't come across as a professional set up.

  5. Oh god now I don't know what to do. Might be a good thing they have not answered the phone all morning. That second pic looks terrible. I might just go to the local car shop and try some Philips bulbs instead after seeing that.

  6. The ones Gerriant recommends are from hids direct though. Daytona said he's sending them back yet I've only seen good reports of their kits.

I've been phoning them all morning to see if I can go and pick a kit up as they are only 20 mins away but can't get any answer.

  7. I had the nightbreakers with 90% extra light for 18 months no issues but don't do much night driving. Spent £50 on the hids Gerraint recommended............and am sending them back as defective. Got the nightbreaker 110% power increase and will see how long they last.

Even basic nightbreakers big improvement on stock but still only just acceptable compared to bog standard Ford lights

Now you've got me worried. Tell me more about the hids.
  8. I had night breakers until last night when one of them blew. They give a much improved light both visually and on the road but if mine are anything to go by they only lasted 7/8 months. On the box it shows a diagram of the short life expectancy compared with standard bulbs. I've put standard bulbs back for the time being and it really is like driving with just the sidelights on after having the nightbreakers I expected a bit longer than 7/8 months though! I'm biting the bullet and going with HID'S.

  9. Sorry I must of posted this in the wrong section as it's been moved to here. Reason I posted in the gen 7 section was because the lights are for a gen 7 not any other gen. Not sure why that was a problem but just my opinion. Cheers anyway got the answers I needed.

  10. Can you recommend me a hid kit with a link to the actual kit be it on a website or eBay. Something half decent that gives a good light on the road whilst being legal and more white than blue looking. Basically everything I need to finish the job.

I just went out to go to burger king and one of the headlamp bulbs is out. I had osram night breakers in. Really good transformation in light output but they have only lasted 7/8 months! Time to go HID.

    Thanks
