  1. if you are out and about in this area try this one - Known locally as Torside it's a small "yellow" road, B6105, which takes you off the A628 Woodhead Road (just before Crowden from the Sheffield side) and drops you down into Glossop.No speed camera's on it until you get into the outskirts of Glossop.It's just a short road compared to Woodhead/Snake and unless it's been changed recently,which I doubt, it's got a bit of everything.narrow bits,narrow bits with water,angled level crossing and the aptley named "Devils Elbow".

    The road passes between and alongside the reservoirs and is very pleasant in summer . . . in winter at night . . . well that's another story.In either direction it's an "interesting" road but just be careful first time through.Last time I used it, it was to test new brakes and disc's I'd just fitted to an Alfa. . had to stop about 2/3 the way roud as they caught fire!! . . . . :wavey: Enjoy :wavey:

    After your advice I did this road on Tuesday. Great recommendation, no traffic and great fun. Needs full attention though but well worth it. Will be doing it again.

    Was on return journey so did Woodhead as well which I've not done in a while. I'd say it is almost as good as snake pass although it does get a bit boring towards the end.

  2. Just adding my name to the list of people that are convinced this works. Added can to last tank of fuel. Within 1/2 tank flat spots during acceleration had gone. Not noticed any increase in MPG but I've not been taking note really since the amount I get out of a tank varies wildly.

    Have followed the recommended course of action and serviced after running a tank of fuel through. New Oil (Fuchs Pro-s) and sparks - car is like new. Perfectly clean acceleration through the full rev range. Will be getting some for my other 1/2s MX5 soon.

  3. is this road worth travelling to? cause it sounds amazing from what you guys have said but i live in wolverhampton sooo just wondering if it worth the drive? :)

    Search youtube for cat and fiddle, plenty of videos on there.

    Maybe not worth the drive up *just* to do that road but if you're ever up that way then well worth a trip.

    Thanks for the tip, will definitely give that a go. Might even do Woodhead Pass and this on the way to Bolton next week.

  5. Done it a couple of times this week in a Merc Vito which is still pretty cool until you catch that wagon up doing 30mph :angry:

    Got to say though its good fun in a G5 GT4 :D but 10mpg :o still fun thou :P

    Did catch wagon with 4 or 5 cars following at one point. None of cars leaving space for overtake so pulled into lay-by and waited for a few minutes. Still caught them up again eventually though. Fingers crossed I'll get a clean run at it next week.

  6. Had to drive from Sheffield to Bolton and back today for work.

    Snake pass on way there (which I've done many times before) then took opportunity to do Cat and Fiddle and way home. Brilliant hoon, even with the 50mph average speed cameras. Highly recommended if you're out that way.

    Unfortunately it looks like I've got to make the same trip next week :D

  7. Mates wedding down in Cirencester last night and decided to take the scenic route home avoiding any motorways.

    Logical route would have been M5 -> M42 -> A42 -> M1 but that looked all a bit boring.

    This is the route we took : http://tinyurl.com/3ojn4z7

    Highlights were:

    • A429 Cirencester -> Coventry
    • A515 Ashbourne -> Hartington Middle Quarter

    Spotted a Silver Gen6 parked up on the road with club stickers somewhere along the route home between Coventry and Burton on Trent (I think).

    All in all a good day, driving time was about 5 hours according to google, probably took us 7 with a few stops and a quick visit to the girlfriend's relatives.

  8. Managed to get one of these last week and I must say that I'm very impressed. Was really easy to set up and get going. Well worth the 20 quid.

    Will look forward to using it properly this week, will see if it makes any difference to my driving.

    I went for the expensive adapter as I read various bad things about some of the cheap ones. Works really well though, am impressed.

    Only put the MPG display on if you're actively wanting to get a lot of miles out of your tank. Otherwise it'll just depress you :)

  9. Upgraded to the non-free version of torque. Much better :)

    Improvements include:

    * MPG now looks accurate (70MPG was a tad optimistic I feel)

    * Can easily see what sensors work and which don't. Only annoying one that doesn't work is oil pressure - need to do some research on PID for that.

    * Proper interface to ECU error codes - mine still showing now errors (woo)

    * Logs MAP of your trip colour coded depending on speed

    * Interface diagnostics such as speed of readings, whether it's functioning correctly etc...

    Bad points so far: Only one really, status light on the ODB connector stays active after you turn the engine off meaning there is still power to it. Apparently it should shut itself down after 2min but doesn't appear to. Worst case I'm gonna have to rig a relay up to turn it on/off when the ignition is turned on.

    Torque I was very impressed for £18

    £18 !!! I paid £2.95 for it from the Android Store... Maybe it's dropped in price recently :)

    I've still not tried the Windows software supplied with it yet, need to borrow the girlfriend's laptop for that as I don't run Windows.

    This is a long shot, but does anyone have the full toyta OBD2-PID list ?

  10. take it these dont work with iphones?

    id kill to have one just now as my engine light is on :(

    how much the app cost you to read the codes aswell?

    There are indeed apps for the iPhone, take a look here there are a few mentioned: http://www.avforums.com/forums/motoring/1220714-iphone-obdii-reader.html

    You can get the bluetooth adapters much cheaper but personally I wasn't prepared to take the risk as some of them are really badly made and could damage your car.

    Considering most garages will charge you up to £80 just to read the codes then the one I bought is still good value.

  11. Got it connected up to my HTC Desire HD running the free version of torque with no issues.

    Quick blast home from work showed at least the rev counter was accurate. However the MPG was way off (showing 60mpg when i got home).

    Just paid out for the non-free version of torque to see if that fixes the issues. Non-free version also gives fault code read outs.

    Will update tomorrow after I've tested it some more.
