  1. After several weeks of battery not arriving, cant get to battery shop and wrong size ones turning up....

Had a Yuasa fitted today - was quoted £65 for a platinum that should have been £80  - and as I was quoted £65 when the Yuasa arrived he honoured the price !

    :)

  3. No zip ties don't know what to do with them apart from tying victims up the Gen 7 can fit two bodies in comfortably. My boot struts haven't gone yet but I can imagine for those that have anyone trying to escape would just be hit back on the head again and fall back in.

  4. O hai

Original battery dying on car, well was completely flat last night. Started in the morning ok but now I'm thinking to replace it as it's the original.

Any recommendations before I go out and buy the wrong one?

  5. Just adding my thoughts / info gathered from forums and the kind people here (please don't think in any way shape or forum I am writing this to correct any info above - I have to much respect for the knowledge here to do that)

Standard plug for 190 GT = SK20R11 -  link to them on OPIE =  https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-63035-denso-iridium-spark-plug-sk20r11-3297.aspx   from what I have read they can last up to 60k  ( I have just been buying them from Mr T)

Advice from here that I have bought - yet to be fitted  = ik20tt  link on OPIE = https://www.opieoils.co.uk/search/go?w=DENSO Iridium TT Spark Plug - IK20TT - Single Plug x 4 £26.64   to be changed at least every 30

( I am a bit anal with my car and have always changed the oil before recommended  interval and the plugs at the same time - waste of money in some peoples eyes but makes me think I'm looking after it.

From what I understand the IK20TT  spark a bit more? giving better fuel economy and idle but lower life span

  6. When I called them I asked why they  recommended 5w40 the answer was  -  the majority of celica drivers use it as the 190 engines tend to burn a little more fuel - the 5w40 slows that down.

What shell oil in particular are you looking at?

I'm using mobile 1 esp 5w30 atm was thinking of treating the car to some mineral oil esther.

  7. Looks great

    I've recently bought:

    A meguiars headlamp restorer kit

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Meguiars-G2000-Perfect-Headlight-Restoration/dp/B00P9OF04I/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1535103666&sr=1-1-spell&keywords=meguirs+headlight+restorer+kit

    and

    3M headlight restorer kit

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/3M-39073-Restoration-Discoloured-Headlights/dp/B0078IHJ1K/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_263_bs_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=BCE4XH130JZKB48Y74HH

The very next day the hot spell was over and I don't have a garage. So I'm waiting to have time and weather to do it.  The 3m kit certainly has the best reviews but the meguiars comes with a clear coat UV protect and heat protection spray

Bit over kill but the intention was to do a before and after on each product so the rest of you could see the results. I've tried toothpaste !  In hind sight they are not that bad and I think I probably dont need the 3m kit but we will see.

    OR

You could use the advice from Chris Fix

  8. (What sort of direction is he taking the company) - my immediate thought would be to look after you to the extend you would be better off than going through the insurance.

If you are not going to be slighted by the MOT omission, personally I'd have all the worked quoted by a Toyota Garage (so long as its not too much that's going to write the car off and you cant buy it back - happened to me recently with my black 140) and go through the insurance- and if your body pain is due as a result of the accident then....

I wish you best of luck getting this resolved.

I'd have expected they would look after you for A: not wanting the bad publicity B: not wanting a claim in the "claims history" We all know how hire cars and company cars are driven, they are not in the same category as the care and attention our fold take in our cars, that makes it more painful when your pride and joy is damaged through no fault of your own. (still park mine at the back of every car park in the widest space.

I had an accident in a Golf GTI - many years back - after the accident I noticed the MOT had run out by 3 days. I was extremely worried to say the least - Nothing ever came of it and the insurers paid out.

You are doing the right thing by drilling down to a granular level, we all know the reputation of insurers that if they can wriggle out of paying out or paying out a reduced amount because of clause "X" they will. Sometimes it's best to air on the side of caution.

Do you know who their insurers are and their policy? ( if this has been mentioned, apologies)

  9. When you upgraded to 55w 5000k from hids direct was it just the bulbs u replaced?

Does the HID kit have a different fitting to the standard bulb ie if you upgrade do you always have to replace with a hid bulb - if so id have to make sure i carried spares

What sort of money did you pay for the kit?

  10. Hi all,

Can't see a topic for this (I'm pretty sure there must be one so apologies in advance) If I want to upgrade the headlights to something a little brighter (like the modern bright LED type bulbs that blind me everywhere I go)

Is it just a case of choosing something different at halford or will they generate increased heat in the wiring loom and that would have to be upgraded also?

    Thanks
