Just putting up this post for all you folks who attended Blyton Park trackday on the 28th April and for everyone else to see, we got the feature thanks to Mark, and photography by myself
Taken on my phone for this one though so excuse the quality.... now go buy the mag for the real thing

Mate have you driven an S2000? They drive very similar to the 190, high revving, power at the top end etc The 2004 onwards model looks very good, but obviously only 2 seats and small boot. Depends how much you need the rear seats and boot, if you don't then the S2000 could be the way forward
I know they drive very similar (although the 190 is a fair bit less on the acceleration and torque) and in all honesty my rear seats Never get used lol. Only ever me or the misses in my car and I rarely use the boot for much either tbh. Its not on the cards for at least a couple of years, and I do love my celica, its just one of my list of things to do is own an S2000 at some point lol.

1 year and 8 months so far. No plans to sell up anytime soon but I would like an S2000 at some point. But if the misses lets me spend some money on her anytime soon I may just go all out on this one

Gimba, the point of having it done is that one, a respray will give the car a thicker coat of paint than what mr Toyota did from the factory making it more resiliant to future chips, two it prevents any parts of the car from going rusty and three because it makes the car look new again. A carbon bonnet is another option, but at two or three times the price ( and I did it with my last car ) I wouldn't bother again.

My brakes did not do as well as I would have hoped. MTEC grooved and Red Stuff all around with Dot 5.1 After the sixth lap at full track speeds I was starting to find fade and needed to increase my braking distace by a good 10 m. That's when I changed my driving style from smooth racing to slam, Norweigen flick and drift. Amazing technique for a circuit, disconcerting for the passengers. It will when the Beams is lowered in.
It wasn't disconcerting for me, and we had the wet laps too haha, I thought it was great fun feeling it drift out of the bends.

see i do like the dc5s i think they look nice, got the power, and honda are good motors no doubt about it,two things tho,one its a type r and likely to have had the bollocks thrashed out of it,and number 2,for the same price off a 2001 plate dc5 you can get a 2006 celica gt
Being thrashed is EXACTLY what those engines are designed to do, its where they work best, as long as its serviced it would give you no problems what so ever. The cars aren't built with V-tec or Lift for us Toyota folk if the engines are not designed to cope with it.

The Gen 7 is OK, but lets look at a few of its issues:
Windows. They don't seem to ever seal properly.
Rust. the undersides are incredibly quick to rust up
Brakes. Pure chocolate brake discs, rear calipers seem to be made of similar.
140 engines. Lets face it, they're a really low quality engine for toyota.
Interior plastics. Fade at different rates.
Interior Trim: ohh the noise!
Alloys: 16" ones corroe and at least 2 of the others seem to pay midnight visits to Uri Geller.
190 Engines: Lift bolts anyone?
MAF Sensor issues...
Lets see Gen 6:
The aerial will at some stage die
3SGE eventually starts disliking cold starts
Handbrake cable will eventually need replacing due to seizing.
It looks like Kermit's lovechild.
Never had issues with windows sealing, never seen any with rust, and I looked at a fair few before buying, interior plastics have not faded at all and mine is approaching 8 years old, lift bolts are only issues with pre-facelifts and maf sensor issues are usually only when people go for custom intakes..... so most of your points are invalid! Any car in the world needs (General maintenance to keep it at its best) and car enthusiasts look after their cars so you will never really come across any major issues. The only point that is valid on your list is the brakes being poor, but its not too difficult to sort really.
And I think the rust comment should definitely be on your gen 6 list,
As said mate, you should go and drive some and see what you think for yourself, only you will know if you will like it. I like both generations of the celica, and I would happily own either, but I just prefer a newer car.

Would just like to thank Jimmy and Lee for spending the majority of their Sunday lowering my car, despite it bein cold and crappy weather. And Lee your dads garage is awesome lol. I will get some pics up soon
-
Good luck with the new car, they are great little engines. Hope you enjoy it

I noticed this morning that when I change my gear into any gear im geting a slight sqeak or whistling noise, but its only during the movement of the gear stick, does anyone know what it could be and how to stop it? I noticed it a few days ago when driving but only just realised its coming from my gears. It also does it when the car is stationary so its nothing to do with being under load. It sounds like the same kind of noise as brake squeal but only very slight.

I cant remember off the top of my head and im at work atm so I cant check, but they are almost identical dimensions to the facelift gen 7 rears. I will have a look when I get home
Cheers for that I will double check them when I get home.

I got sent the wrong rear discs from Mtec, but was told their to an older model, need to get rid of them!

My misses likes mine, does complain its low to get out of but my last car was lowered so much it was worse, so atm its an upgrade for her lol.
She likes the speed and looks, and she loves red, she actually encouraged me to buy it when we were in the showroom, so its a win win for me. Shes not allowed to drive it though, only look at and be passenger to it.
If anything annoys her its how much I talk about my car, but I've done that with all my cars so shes used to it.
-
Looks stunning, and I don't usually like the yellow celicas.
-
well I was just giving a guide price lol, i'm no paint expert I was just giving a guide as it sometimes depends on the amount of work it needs. Up to £100 then lol
-
Touch up pens are only good for the smallest of chips, so if they are that bad then unfortunately the only way to go is a respray, but it shouldn't cost too much for a top quality job of just the bonnet, I'd say between £1-200 at max. The paint on celicas isn't that thick so having it resprayed should also give it a thicker coat and therefore more protection for the future.
-
interior rattles, paint chips fairly easily but these are far outweighed by what I like about it so it doesn't bother me too much.
Plus they can both be sorted out.

Gutted seeing this
Unless you have an ex-girlfriend or something beginning with 'N' I doubt anyones stupid enough to start writing their name, so it could be the start of NOB or something... just saying! The fact they didnt finish means they were disturbed so someone might have seen it happen, I'd ask around.
You got a computer at work? Try a wireless (wifi) camera/webcam to keep an eye on it, save all the days footage to the PCs hard drive - I know my Logitech came with motion recording software which could also be set to send an email, set this up to my mobile phone email so I got a notification every time someone would set the webcam off
Well its definitely not an X as I've also had none beginning with the letter N, so like you I thought they were going to write nob, and the fact I don't know anyone in the area means its someone who has seen me driving it and just had a bit of jealousy. Fortunately as of today I have got a new parking spot outside a neighbouring workplace which has CCTV and staff that can see it all day and they have said I can leave it there from now on, so I'm happy with that, just gotta get it fixed now..... so £100 odd quid that could have gone to something else
gutted for you mate, really wish some people would just f*ck off and die so we didn't have to see shit like this happen. would love to wreck some of their stuff and see how they like it. bastards! hope you find out who it is and teach em a lesson.
If I ever do find out who it was..... I will take some revenge! But the problem is finding out who it was in the first place, its such a shame people in the world can't have respect for others property.
-
I'm going to try parking it somewhere else today and make sure its on camera, I do generally park in the same spot or area, other alternative is getting a new job so I don't have to park there at all.
-
No I can't think of anyones name who begins with N, theres nobody I work with that does, and as I said I don't live in the area so I don't know anybody around either.
I'm going to make some complaints at work today, but unfortunately there is no seperate car park for employees, so its literally a park at your own risjk car park, but I shouldn't have to worry about what condition my car is going to be in everytime I go
-
Like I said my last car was keyed 3 times where I work, and i thought it was because it was highly modded and stood out, whereas this car is completely standard, so it proves someone is being malicous to me, I have since looked at spy cameras but your still talkin £200+.
But I wanna find out who keeps doing it because no one else at work has any problems.
some good news today

Well my car went in for its MOT today and FAILED =) thats right..... and its made me happy because it failed on the exhaust which means I now have to buy me a nice shiny custom one, which has been on the to do list anyway =)
