  1. tyrereviews.co.uk is godly. Customers rate the tyres on dry grip, wet grip, wear, noise, comfort etc and to be fair a lot of them seem like car people and have a good understanding of what they're talking about. Oddly rainsport 2s have 90% wet grip and 80% dry grip lol. But yeah, check that site out. They also give links to road tests on the popular tyres by car magazines which can be insightful, if not at times misleadin.

  2. How would he actually scam you though? The only way would be to not turn up (which would be annoying, but no real harm done just sell it again) or turn up without enough money which again is annoying, but just move him on a resell. Just have a few heavies round when he comes lol, if he comes with his own heavies, put it on youtube please ;)

  3. I bought some wheels from the US last year.

Theres differnt rates of duty for different goods , import duty on wheels is 4.5% , but then there is VAT

I paid $400 for a set of 4 , and the duty was £66 pounds.

I think at the time the whole lot cost me bout £480 by time i got them home. (inc duty and shipping from US)

I could only find one one place in the UK which could supply the same wheels and they were about £650 delivered , so even with the duty and shipping from the US i saved around £170 !!

I used this duty calculator for an idea before i ordered

    http://www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation/

According to that import duty and tax comes to £116.80! Which is a bargain... Assuming I thought it would be hundreds. I've found a supplier of the wheels in the UK. They want £900 :o Obviously they import them as well and then price them up accordingly. But I put 0 insurance, as I'm not sure what the insurance is or would be? So I'm guessing that would push it up?

its a chance thing , if they land and are heavy then you could spunk a fortune , if however there light then you could be with wheels in no time at all , i guess asking them to weigh them is about all you can do in advance

booked vegas today , im going BA as the service was shockingly good , easly the best flight ive had , £1551 for the 2 of us flight only !!!!! bugger

£1551 for flights only? Is that per person? I'm going flights and hotel for £1300 for two of us, so a little over £600 per person.

  4. Why 5 months? Surely it doesn't take that long to ship over?

I'm really confused now. Is there no definite or concrete written in black and white price that I'll pay? I'm more than happy to end up paying about £200 but anymore than that is just rape. In fact that is rape! But I could end up paying loads more...

  5. I've found the perfect wheels for my car. Only thing is I can't get them in the UK so would have to import them from the US of A who have a far, far, far superior choice of wheels. What kind of tax/custom charges am I likely to get? The wheels + postage are roughly £500 and weigh roughly 20lbs each. Might cost and weigh more if I get tyres but you get the general idea.

    Thanks.

  6. couldnt hear it for the induction noise mine makes

dont usually have a problem keeping up with the civic type r , pretty much on par with each other although i think the honda has it in the handling stakes, mate at work has one with a few small mods and he said he was shocked at how quick mine is, he couldnt get away

all on the track of course :D

Then the Fiesta was definitely modded. Or the guy was just a good driver which is possible.
