With that brief, I'd stick with the Rain Sports http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/uniroyal/rain-sport-3/205-45-r17-88y-265061
If you go up a size, like a lot of people do on here for extra comfort, then they are £10 a corner cheaper... http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/uniroyal/rain-sport-3/215-45-r17-87y-265818
ORRrrr, Goodyears seem to get the biggest praise & at this price it's probably a no brainer... http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/goodyear/eagle-f1-asymmetric-2/215-45-r17-91y-66226

Go onto the Weight Watchers website & use the "Find a Weight Watchers meeting near you" function. Pour oil around entrance to said venue, sit back & let laughter ensue

I've been spinning the wheels a lot this week, even short shifting. I am in need of some new rubber but the roads are very, very greasy at the moment.
-
I'd go for an ACT TC2-SPSS.
Personally I have the HDSS but wish I'd opted for the SPSS. They both use the same friction discs, but the SP isn't sprung as aggressively as the HD (which in my opinion is over the top for these, even when boosted)
PS... Se7en is a UK distributor of ACT clutches, so get in touch with him

For some reason I had 2.7l in my head rather than 2.3, plus I have the MR-S diff in there as well which probably adds more volume over the stock open diff? Anyway, filling it until it starts to spill out isn't the way to go if you want slick gear changes it seems.
-
Just to add, don't overfill the box. I did a few weeks back & it's been a pig

I just let mine build up until the missus gets pissed off & takes it to the recycle place

Ive been using Gulf comp in the engine for years now, so decided to give their gear oil a try this time.
5L bottle here, good for 2 changes....

Yeah, but Danny mate, you can't put a price on being able to fill your car up in a more sportier way. :xmas_laugh: Just pour some paint stripper on yours, it'll look just as good.

If you're getting pretty hefty staff discounts, then throw a set of dampers on at the same time. If yours are a bit tired, fitting lowering springs will make the ride feel shit.
-
Nice steering Jo3 but what's with the Gear knob?
Better gear shifting, I hated the low short shift it spoiled the drive. I have a custom kit still to fit that will reduce throw, hopefully get it fitted soon.

Get shut mate, nowt worse than a car you hate. You'll end up binning it driving out of anger at some point, I nearly did with mine last week
Go test drive a few other cars which take your fancy, they'll either wake up your senses again or make you realise that the Celica chassis is pretty darn good.
PS F*ck the strut brace off & go for a front anti roll bar upgrade + poly bushed front engine mount, that'll liven things up a bit.

I'm also very interested in a front mount set for a gen7.
You say that most people try the front mount first and then the rear mount afterwards if necessary, are they kind of like a 50/50 thing? I.e the front mount will improve by 50% and the rear mount will improve it further by 50%? Or is it a case of a poly front mount will improve it 15-20% but the rear mount makes the most difference? Sorry I can't really describe my question more than that haha
More like 75-80% front. I only run rear because the charger was causing severe wheel hop in low gear/high revs & the front alone didn't completely dial it out.

that was what sold me, i didn't want to have to buy a special lube as well... plus you get nearly twice as much as other bars for similar price.
I'm a bit apprehensive though, as never clayed before, and have read it's quite firm and takes a lot of kneading to warm up... and then need to be gentle with it to avoid marring.
We'll see how it goes in the morning!
Just have a spray bottle on hand to keep the paintwork wet, once you get into a rhythm it's easy enough. If you start to feel any resistance at all just stop & spray more water on. It'd take quite a bit of effort to get it to bite into the paintwork I reckon.
Be warned, you won't stop stroking the paintwork once you've finished

got this today... gonna test it out tomorrow morning before heading up to JAE
Got the same stuff mate, it's really good as you can just use water with it.

Ahhh the lost art of banter, a rare occurrence on here of late.
To keep it on topic I actually have rear brakes & an undertray to fit before winter. Being bothered is another issue however

A few generations iv mistaken how old you really are haha gramps [emoji38][emoji39]
I know the feeling you got a few years ago mate, iv yet to have a ride in a boosted 2zz yet...would love to soon. I'd be the same as you mate hard not to put the pedal down even now on a stock engine. Cams and pulleys won't make it any better.
Boosted generations ... I am old though.
-
All this boosted talk is killing me, you've spent enough of my money recently Joe now stop it! [emoji6]
Just passing the motivation down a few generations mate, nthnmunky used to do it whilst I wa sat thinking, you jammy twat haha Tuns out he was an enlightened one & boosting a 2zz never grows old
The tune is so aggressive that you cant do owt but nail it everywhere
-
Im gonna be using and abusing it as normal.
Not looking forward to running mine in the winter, when its wet I cant go above 4k rpm or Ill be suffering lots of wheel spin. Dreading it when its icy...
Hopefully gonna start looking for a daily.
Dunnae worry bud, with the LSD it's all fun, just don't try racing anyone - remember Scooby doo when they used to set off running?
although I am enjoying driving the 4x4 and that's probably saved me a few points by now lol
I hear that, there hasn't been one day since being boosted where I haven't stepped out of her without tingling with adrenaline! I fear, at some point, triple figures will get me into trouble....maybe I need a daily too :/

suede steering wheel

Much better driving position, I get into standard cars now & it just feels so awkward having to reach forward for the wheel. You get a nice close steering position with outstretched legs, perfect. (A milder version of the pic below)
I don't have a deep dish by the way, I run a flatter wheel with a Brown & Geeson adjustable boss, but the effect is the same.
