  1. This is terrible news, i cant imagin i'd feel so positive with continuing with my car never mind being on here to warn others.

Maybe everyone should remember to add health and safety advice to any guides they write from now on aswell, i do wear safety glasses sometimes however never even crossed my mind while working under my car, i shall be doing so in the future though.

  2. Sounds like a good place for a meet, maybe get some ccuk discount. I've just requested a quote for my standard alloys to be refurbed so shall see what kind of price they get back to me with. I was planing on doing them myself but if the price is good i might get it done professionally

  3. I used to always only fill up half a tank, run to low but not quite got the light on then fill up to half again, partly because why would i want to carry all that extra fuel around when i pass several garages adn work right next to one every day, and partly because it doesnt feel as bad speanding all that money at once.

Now with fule prices going up daily i fill her right up then run down till the light comes on, 20 miles or so more then fill right up again at the cheapest garage i can find.

If fule prices continue to rise i may have to get a bike

  4. As long as this guy is coming to collect and paying you by cash, it seems ok. Just check the cash is real as some of the others have said and there shouldnt be no problem.

I'm trying to sell my car and got this email, now this sounds dodgy, it might be genuine but i have my doubts. What do you guys think?

Not trying to hijack your thread but thought this might be relevant to other members trying to sell their car.

"Thanks for the mail i am at sea at the moment as i am a marine engineer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding it. I really want the car to be a surprise for my wife so i wont let her know anything about the car until it gets delivered to her, And also i will be contacting the shipping company about this and they will come for the pickup at your home after the payment has been made to you and i will only be making payment via paypal safest online payment (pls visit www.paypal.co.uk)..Thanks for your cooperation..

    Regards,

    Webb"

    Dodgy or not???

Dodgy, seen almost the exact same worded email before, probably on here from other members i think.

  5. Wouldnt it be done seperately, you swap the private reg off the escort by filling in the forms and taking them to dvla then with another set of forms you put the private reg onto the celica?

Sorry cant be more help, mine had a private reg when i bought it but the garage did all the paper work for me as the reg wasnt sold with the car.

Not sure if both could be done at once or if insurance and tax makes a difference

  6. ive panels on my shed running through grid tied inverters

this charger will work as its only got to replace tiny amounts of power lost from alarms and clocks etc , my thoughts are will it overcharge the battery ? i also wondered if anyone was using them for there cars which dont get used too offen

Without a charge controller and just connected as it is straight to the battery then yes i would assume that it will just keep charging regardless of the state of the battery.

  7. someone else has said that, but i dont see how

providing the seatbelts work i dont see how it'd fail the mot or invalidate the insurance

but im sure someone will post a link or advice about this

Becasue the webbing you use would need to have a proven safety rating surely to match the spec of the origional seatbelts

  8. Well i wasnt sure how the buld came out and was pushed for time so didnt bother taking it in with me or fitting in the car park. We live and learn though. Went back and told the guy what i needed, he checked the computer, no still wrong bulb but he did do his best to look through the bulbs and we found the right one in the end and exchanged it no problem. I would have though a company like halfods could afford to update their systems every once in a while to include things like this, the staff can only be as good as the systems there working with.

Was Seafield Halfords so neither Yours or straighton Invisible Dark lol

  9. Had a brake light out and since todays the first day i've had the car out in 3 weeks went to halfords to get a new one. Had a look at all the bulbs but couldnt tell which was the right one, so turned to the lookup chart. Toyota celica, thats a 380, ok find the bulb, hmm doesnt look right to me. The a helpful guy came offer to offer assistance, yeh can you check the brake light bulb for an 02 celica? Yeh thats a 380, hmm ok guess it must be then and i got it wrong.

Wasnt sure if i needed to take the light cluster out or not so waited until i got home, go to change the bulb and its the wrong bulb :)

so after being assured it the correct one in halfords i now need to go back and inform them no its not its the one i thought it was in the first place.
